The Holiday Inn Express & Suites Boston - Cambridge receives mixed reviews, with guests praising convenient location, helpful staff, and a solid breakfast. However, significant concerns have been raised regarding room quality, particularly in older rooms, and issues with front desk service and maintenance responsiveness. Newer renovations have improved the experience. Overall, value is questionable given parking costs and room issues.

The rooms are lacking juuuust a little, but this place does such a great job making up for it in other areas. I swear they've done house keeping every single day since I've been here lol. Not to mention Jonathan quite literally saved me a trip to the urgent care my first night here. Anything I've needed they have provided with a seemingly genuine enjoyment. The location is conveniently right next to a lot of different food joints and a target and Walmart. This has been one of my best stays. Great place.

Amazing hotel with proximity to all the schools. The breakfast was really great, especially the espresso machines and the freshly made pancake. It was really good at the space is good. It’s busy, but you feel really good in the lobby. The rooms were also clean bathroom. Nice. Everything was perfect.

The hotel has serious problems in both hardware and software. I am not sure how this hotel was able to receive the Holiday Inn Express name under the IHG brand. Since any hotel can have issues, I usually choose a brand-operated hotel to avoid or minimize problems. Most guests stay at a hotel they have never visited before, so the importance of the brand’s reputation becomes much greater than in other categories. To prevent damage to your brand’s reputation, brand management should review how this hotel is operating under your name. To the hotel manager: the room I stayed in should never be considered acceptable for customers. Please stay just one night in the room I stayed in, Room 813. Don’t forget to open the refrigerator as well. After staying there, ask yourself whether you would host your parents, children, or friends in that room. If the answer is yes, I will apologize for my review—but I doubt that will happen. To future customers: I doubt you can sleep in this room because of the noise from the building’s fan and the constantly running, never-cleaned bathroom fan. Light also passes through the door, and the improper curtain increases the discomfort. I would say the noise is worse than an overnight bus. Imagine sleeping next to an outdoor AC unit—plus an annoying metal rattling sound. This is not just my feeling. I wear a smart ring all the time. My heart rate stayed elevated all night, indicating that my body was not resting properly. Normally the graph stays flat at night, but that night showed large fluctuations, meaning my body kept waking up even if I didn’t fully notice. The next morning, the app alerted me that my readiness score was bad and suggested that I turn on rest mode for the day. The front desk did not help me at all. I will describe the front desk experience in detail below. Front Desk Staff When I arrived, he was not at the desk. I made a sound, and then someone came out with a face that said, “Why are you interrupting my Netflix or YouTube time?” He didn’t acknowledge my membership tier. Actually, how could I expect that from someone who doesn’t even say hello? I said hello first, but he ignored me with that same expression. After I checked in, I tried calling the front desk to report the condition of my room, but he didn’t answer, so I went downstairs (again, he was not at the desk). When he finally came out, with the same expression, he said he could send a technician if I wanted, but “nothing will change.” He said there were no alternative rooms. The attitude I felt was basically: “What will you do? Find another hotel at this hour?” At the very least, he could have offered an earplug set. I seriously wondered if he was even officially employed by the hotel. In addition to the above, there were more issues. He did not give me additional water and told me I had to buy it—although welcome drinks or similar benefits are part of the Platinum member benefits. It seemed he had no idea. He told me I had to ask for late checkout the next morning. I did ask the next morning with another staff member, but I am not sure what changed between the time I checked in and early the next morning. Maybe he did not have the authority, or maybe he was simply too lazy to check availability. At minimum, I do not need any special elite recognition, but the hotel should at least hire someone who can stand at the front desk and knows how to say “hello.” I seriously want the manager to confirm whether he is truly your staff, and not someone filling in unofficially. I asked his name; he said it was Noah. He is African American and was wearing a rainbow-flag badge on his coat.

Clean, convenient to our son’s home, nice breakfast. Our room was very small. One elevator was out of service but it didn’t effect us much. What bothered us was 3 housekeeping carts and linen cart constantly in the hall even during off hours. Breakfast was good. Appreciated the delicious coffee available 24/7.

You can hear the sounds from the room next to you, but it's not too bad. Free breakfast is good enough to start your day! I loved that there were free coffee and hot water 24/7. Overall great stay in Boston ?

Overall quite good experience. Old hotel but not too bad. Our room looked a bit weird, with unknown spots on the window curtain and on the couch. The highlight of the stay was the breakfast, different every day and quite good too! Location not too far from the T green line, so easily connected to the city center.

All around safe and great place to stay with the family. This was our family's first trip to Boston close enough to enjoy the town but quite and safe enough to have some space. They let us keep our car parked there the day we checked out while we made one more trip around town. Above and beyond service from staff. Will go back

Yes, this hotel is old. The lobby hasn’t been updated and one elevator was broken while we were there. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and welcoming. The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. I liked the location, we took a long walk to Fenway Park and it was a beautiful walk. Not too far from restaurants and a park

The location to Boston University was nice. In walking distance to mall, eating places, and strip of stores including a grocery store. Convenient for all the things needed for college student traveling from Southern states to Boston. Hotel cleaning service ladies a 10 out of 10. The front desk with an exception of 1 male and 1 female were pleasant and informative about the area and where to get things being that I am not from Boston. (Cambridge) This hotel is in a convenient location and close to public transportation subway and bus system if not wanting to walk. The Ubers are also nonstop if wanting to go that route. The daily breakfast was a plus as well and 1 less meal to have to worry about. Overall a good value for the price.

The hotel has two elevators but only one was working, and it felt like being on the subway with endless waiting times. Breakfast was rich and complete, definitely the best part of the stay. The staff at the reception was unfriendly and not welcoming. Parking is extremely expensive at 50 USD per day. The location is fairly good, but overall the experience was not up to expectations.
