The Harborside Inn Boston offers a convenient location near many attractions and public transportation, but receives mixed reviews regarding room quality and amenities. Recent feedback suggests a charming, historic atmosphere but also identifies shortcomings like dated furnishings and inconsistent shower temperatures. Guests appreciate the friendly staff and proximity to the waterfront.

I was very disappointed in my stay at the Harborside Inn in Boston from the moment we walked in. The smell of bug spray was immediately noticeable. The lobby is small, dark and unwelcoming. I didn’t even see the front desk when we walked in. The room looked like it had not been updated in fifty years. It was so dark it was almost cavelike. The one tiny window had an “atrium view” which was a brick wall. Again the smell of bug spray was noticeable. The bathroom was decent. There is no daily maid service. If you want your room cleaned, you have to schedule it. For a four night stay, our bill was over $1,600. I certainly expected something decent. After we checked in, we stopped at the restaurant for a drink and a small appetizer. We each had two drinks and shared the appetizer. The bill was $112.00, including a tip. Even though my room key was clearly on the bar, I was not offered, nor did I receive, a discount. The only good thing I can say about this place was the location was good. I would not stay here again, nor would I recommend it to anyone.

We had a great stay at Harborside Inn. The location is perfect, the staff is very friendly, and the rooms are quiet and comfortable, with enough space for a city stay. While the hotel feels a bit older in terms of furniture and appliances, and our room lacked natural light, these were minor drawbacks compared to the overall experience. A very solid choice in Boston - we would definitely stay here again and recommend it!

Great location: Aquarium subway stop right in front of hotel, excellent restaurants within quick walking distance, coffeeshops abound, Quincy Market right by hotel, all historical markers just minutes away. Very friendly, helpful staff; room service was only upon request, which we liked as we didn't have to fumble with a Do Not Disturb sign. The beds were comfy, the room was quiet and had a great view. Soft, large, thick towels. The heating/cooling, though unsophisticated, worked fine. Because it was cold, it was nice to come into the lobby through automatic doors. The only things we didn't like (but didn't find too problematic, either!!!!) were: 1) At times the temperature in the shower was unreliable, both nights and mornings, giving you unexpected cold blasts. 2) The 20% discount in the adjacent restaurant Joia was suddenly reduced to 18% with some mysterious 2% administrative fee added back into the bill. 3) It would be helpful to have slightly larger curtains to block all of the morning sun; we couldn't close the gap between the two panels and were greeted too early by bright sunlight. 4) Instead of a key, a card would be more amenable to opening the door while carrying items. 5) Our room had a DVD player and we picked out DVDs from the extensive (but unsorted) library, just to find that our device was not connected to the TV. 6) A smart TV would be cool so that you can continue binge-watching your Netflix/Prime/Apple TV/HBO shows. 7) The water dispenser in the lobby was a great touch, but needs to be cleaned from the lemon debris to let it flow faster. These are suggestions, not complaints. We would definitely return to this hotel, no doubt about it!

This hotel was a perfect getaway in a perfect location! The hotel has off-site parking for a discounted price which is a HUGE + for this Boston area. Esthetically the rooms are charming with the brick interior, and bathrooms had a modern walk in shower. The only downside is there is no microwave in the rooms. Otherwise really nice place and the staff was very friendly.

This hotel offers exceptional convenience in the heart of downtown Boston, situated just steps away from the subway and numerous top-tier attractions. When booked as part of a package, the rates are very reasonable, providing excellent value for money. I was particularly impressed by the 24/7 front desk staff; they were consistently friendly, responsive, and eager to assist, which I truly appreciated. On the downside, there are some noticeable drawbacks. First, the in-room facilities are somewhat dated. The lack of a Smart TV or AirPlay support can be inconvenient for travelers who prefer streaming content from their personal devices. Furthermore, the views are inconsistent; there is a high chance of being assigned a room that looks directly into another guest's window, which can feel quite claustrophobic. Soundproofing is also an issue, as noise from the hallway and neighboring TVs carries easily. Most concerning were the mysterious vibrations within the building that caused the lamps and furniture to resonate—a rather unsettling experience. Bottom line: If you are looking for a short-term stay and plan to spend most of your time exploring the city, the hotel’s unbeatable walkability and transit access make it a solid choice.

I want to say probably one of my favorite hotels I've gone to for almost 3 years now. Anytime I am in Boston I chose this hotel as my go to. Right in the perfect spot to walk every. Even to get to TD Garden about 10-15 mins walk and 1 time I walked to fenway which was about 30-45 min walk. Market is literally down the street. The place is always clean, people actually care.

Such a great place, so convenient. It's an older hotel so rooms are smaller and since it's downtown you have limited options for window views. Had our first 4 days in an atrium view room which had a great roomy bathroom. Didn't really have an option to open the shades b/c our neighbor would be able to see inside. Always plenty of staff, always prompt friendly service. We stayed for our anniversary happened to get two small bottles of prosecco as part of some ordering benefit thing, which was a nice touch. So our flight got delayed and we missed our connector which caused us to have to stay another day. Staff was able to fit us in and give us a room which is why I have two rooms in my pictures one from our original reservation and the other when our flight got delayed. Best benefit is so close to everything from the ferry to Quincy Market to the Freedom Trail and it's not some big, impersonal hotel chain. They have old school keys, kinda fun.

Second time visiting Boston and saw the positive reviews about Harborside Inn and the compliments were completely justified! I arrived after midnight, called in advance to let them know and didn't check in until after midnight, almost 1am. Haley at the front was very welcoming, friendly, and gave me two bottles of Prosecco! What really was really surprising and made my trip very memorable is I booked a windowless room and was very pleasantly surprised that I got upgraded to the window rooms and even more so with the view I was hoping for if I booked the windowsill room! What a beautiful view! Thank you to all the fantastic staff who put in so much great work for the guests. Only issue was there was an unusual smell that I smelled on the elevators and in the lobby thar didn't go away through my trip and the walls were a but too think as I could fully hear the kids and family next to me, but other than that 5/5 highly recommend!! Perfect location and very conventional as the Aquarium T station is right out front!!

We liked its proximity to the Fanuel hall and Quincy market. The lobby & bar area were decorated beautifully for Christmas. The beds were NOT plush. They were hard and very flat. The luggage trolleys had NO hooks for bags which we had plenty of traveling at Christmas. I was told by hotel staff when I booked to request a bathtub since that’s what we preferred but upon check-in was told they have no 2 queen bedrooms with tubs- So we felt lied to in order to get our business. Also there were NO Keurig or coffee pots in the rooms. We likely won’t be back to stay here. The room was clean & very quiet though which we did appreciate. Also the bar didnt have any warm cocktails such as mulled wine or hot buttered rum- not even a cold peppermint martini this time of year! BOO!

I love this hotel. Easy check in/out and friendly staff. The room was spacious and clean. It was wonderfully dark at night since there are no windows. The bathroom was clean, and the water pressure was strong. I had good vacation hair for the entirety of the stay. There is a drop off in front of the building, which is perfect for Uber, but we parked in the recommended garage first. It was more convenient for us so we didn’t have to fight traffic to get back to the garage, which is a 5 minute walk away. Parking was reasonably priced with a slight discount if you park in their recommended garage. It’s very close, less than a 5 minute walk, to the Quincy Market, the aquarium, and Duck tours. It’s a a 15 minute walk to Boston Common and the Paul Revere House. There’s also a train station a few yards from the hotel. I would happily stay here again.
