The Hampton Inn by Hilton Boston Seaport District is a well-located hotel offering a comfortable stay with decent amenities and a generally positive experience. However, recent reviews highlight issues with early check-in fees, parking congestion, and inconsistent service, alongside some concerns about room noise and cleanliness.
Please be aware that if you want to check-in early, they will ask for a $50 fee. Otherwise, you will need to wait somewhere or sit in the lobby--even though your room is ready, you still have to pay the fee. This is an issue for me because when I landed in Boston, I called the hotel from the airport asking about an air check-in and if it was available. The representative on the phone told me yes, I would be able to early check-in, but I needed to be at the hotel as it is determined by availability at that time. I say okay that sounds great since it is four hours before my check-in and I'll go ahead and head over to the hotel for that. She says great and we hang up--absolutely zero mention of the $50 fee. I will not be paying that fee just to enter a room early, besides that though, the representative should have told me about this over the phone, and I feel that it was intentionally left out. She had several opportunities to inform me on the phone, but it was the first thing she said when I approached the desk at the hotel. When I found this out after arriving early, the customer service from the ladies at the front desk was abysmal and honestly kind of rude. After a long morning of travelling, it was disheartening. I understand a hotel policy you can't change, but I do not understand being rude when I was not and not informing the customer of the policy before telling them to make the trip to the hotel now.
This hotel is tucked away in the seaport district, so it isn't super close to everything but the view is beautiful and a close cab ride to local attractions. The entrance hectic, but it was close to check-in time at around 3:00 p.m. There is valet parking available but I used spot hero and found a parking spot 5 minutes away for half the price. Once we tracked down a luggage car and took our things upstairs we were all set. The staff was helpful. The hotel is extremely clean. Pool is small but perfect for kids. We brought some small pool toys that made all the difference in keeping everybody entertained for a while. The breakfast starts early and runs past 9:00 a.m. I believe but starts to get hectic at 8:00 a.m.. There are two seating areas in the lobby for dining if you have takeout or you're having breakfast that's available on site. There isn't a lot in walking distance. There is a brewery across the street and then harpoon brewing is about 5 mi away but they have the irregular hours. It was a great location to get to the aquarium and the other places that we wanted to visit. There are refrigerators in the rooms and two microwaves in the lobby to heat up food. The bathrooms were spacious and clean. The beds were comfortable and overall this was a great value for our visit.
Stayed here for a work trip. The valet was mandatory and always busy but they were on point. Easy ticketing system and very prompt service. Staff at the front desk were super friendly and efficient, asked them for additional toiletries and literally had a knock on our door in under 5 minutes with the items. Hotel was well maintained, and beautifully decorated. Rooms were spacious and clean. The water view was great! They did have a pool but it was much smaller than we expected and was always packed, even at 930pm which prevented us from using it. Decent fitness room. The on site meeting spaces were great and Dan was so attentive to our team. Breakfast was average, scrambled eggs, bacon, oatmeal, cereal etc. They had a nicely stocked snack area and I loved the beer taps! Check out was simple. A lot of restaurants and businesses within 15-20 min walking distance. Would definitely stay here again.
The rooms were very clean and decent size, we didn't feel on top of each other, but the windows were very dirty, bird poop all over them; sorry, but if I'm paying $350 a night, I don't want to be looking at bird poop all day. Get a window washer, this is constructive criticism. Also constructive criticism, please put body wash in the bathrooms; imagine a 220 pounds and 5'9" man using that tiny soap in the bathroom, good thing I carried bodywash for my husband. The breakfast was not even "survival food" like my kids called most hotel breakfast; uncooked potatoes and unseasoned food, the eggs tasted slimy, I do not recommend. The people refilling the food were very rude. The valet guys were awesome, they greeted us every time (good morning, good night, have a great day, will you be needing the car later), I guess for $62 a night, well. The most upsetting part about staying at this hotel, they try to gaslight me about booking connecting rooms. I booked connecting rooms and also put a note as an added precaution that I was traveling with children and that I needed connecting rooms. When I went to check in the night before I couldn't pick connecting rooms and when I called, I was told to email my confirmation (I will bet a lot that they knew the confirmation came in 2 separate emails, even though it was one transaction at time of booking and in the app), like they didn't have it; they agreed they saw my note but said that the booking didn't come as connecting. I was told that they were completely booked and couldn't do anything about it, I asked if they could put a note just in case someone canceled. When I went the morning in to check in, the woman was very dismissive when I asked her to check for me, she was more in a hurry to get rid of me to go talk to her friend who was leaving for the day. I only stayed because we were there for only 2 nights and made it work, we wouldn't be able to do that is it was a longer stay. That's why I do my best to get 2 bedroom suites when we travel so I don't have to deal with people and this kind of issue, but I was told (lied to) that as a Hilton Honors member traveling with kids, I was guaranteed connecting rooms. Spending close to $1500 on hotel for 2 nights is a decent amount of money, I shouldn't be denied the connecting rooms I booked because the hotel overbooked.
Buyer beware!! $62 for vallet parking with no other option presented. My fault for not knowing this ahead of time. I had to pay it because it was dark and pouring rain. Otherwise, we had a nice, clean room. Fridge was tiny. I won't stay here again.
I had a fantastic time during my stay. The hotel was not only beautiful, but the service and staff were the kindest! Breakfast truly uplifted our day, and our small interactions with other stayers and kitchen staff were beautiful. Amenities and cleanliness were great as well! Would definitely come back again!
We stayed at Hampton Inn by Hilton Boston during our trip and overall had a good experience. The hotel looks freshly renovated, very clean, and well maintained. The staff was warm and welcoming. Breakfast was included and was perfectly fine. The gym was clean, and while the pool isn’t huge, it’s definitely big enough to enjoy. The only issue we had was with the valet parking. It didn’t really feel like full valet service — you’re told where to leave the car and then they move it. In the morning, when we got our car back, we noticed a dent and scratch on the side that 100% happened while it was parked there. There are too many cars and not enough space. What was most disappointing is that the parking staff never mentioned anything about the scratch when returning the car. Aside from that situation, our stay was pleasant, but the parking experience was frustrating.
Con: It’s amongst the least soundproofed hotels I’ve stayed in. You will be kept up by constant planes flying overhead head, neighbors opening doors and talking as clear as if they were in the room. You can clearly hear everything. Con: location. There’s nothing but warehouses near by. You have to walk 10 - 15 minutes for really anything. Pro: service was great, staff were knowledgeable, helpful and positive.
Aachel Is the absolute best! She was always kind sweet and willing to help with a lot of different things! Despite the rooms being a little old school and not up to Hilton/Hampton standards in my opinion, the service, location, and just overall feel this place is very nice. Thank you aachel
We had a great time at the hotel. Everybody was very nice and helpful. We stayed three nights during our visit to Boston and we couldn’t be happier. The room was clean and spacious with all the amenities we need. Staffs was extremely helpful at check-in and throughout our stay. Highly recommend!
