The Hilton Boston Back Bay offers a prime location in the heart of the city's Back Bay neighborhood, making it convenient for exploring nearby attractions and restaurants. While many guests praise the hotel's cleanliness, views, and generally pleasant atmosphere, recurring concerns include issues with outdated room decor, inconsistent service, high parking fees, and difficulties with amenities like elevators and ice machines.
My husband and I stayed here for one night during our recent visit to the area. We booked a panoramic view room and we were very pleased!! The view was great and the amount of natural light was a nice change of pace from the traditional hotel room. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfy. The bathroom was clean and the shower was nice and large. We decided to have breakfast in the Forty Dalton Kitchen and Bar downstairs and the service and food was amazing! The location makes it perfect for walking to all of the sights nearby!
Recently, I had a small group staying at your hotel, and I had the pleasure of working with Alissa and her team throughout the process. With over 14 years of experience in hospitality, I truly wanted to take a moment to share my feedback. It is very rare to experience such a seamless, professional, and genuinely caring level of service. Alissa went above and beyond to ensure every detail for my group was perfectly organized and handled with care. What impressed me the most was her dedication and responsiveness — she was even assisting on weekends and during her days off to make sure everything was running smoothly for my clients. Her commitment and professionalism did not go unnoticed. In addition, the front desk team was extremely knowledgeable, welcoming, and attentive. My clients were truly satisfied with their stay, and experiences like this are the reason I look forward to bringing more business to your hotel in the future. Thank you for maintaining such an exceptional level of hospitality and for having such an outstanding team. Alissa, thank you again for helping make my group’s stay so memorable. Your hard work and kindness are sincerely appreciated Thanks Ana Luxury Travel
What I will say is the cleaning staff were great, probably one of the cleanest rooms I've stayed in. However, parking is insanely expensive and they conveniently don't mention it to you at check-in, park else where, literally every garage near by is cheaper. Service is so-so, bar is lacking options, one guy couldn't even be bothered to look for a drink they had on there menu, plus no veg options. They also don't care about status, I'm diamond, despite having plenty of rooms open (they were probably half capacity looking at availability), never offered to upgrade. Seems like half the elevators aren't working at least one was stuck half the time we were there (it's 24 stories you ain't popping up the stairs) Could be great property if management was better at hospitality.
The hotel was actually nice, and should have been a 5 star, but there were some issues: Pros: - Clean Room - Nice updated shower, with plenty of room. - Bar was friendly environment, with Sam Summer on Tap - Nice view of the city from the room. - Easy access to onsite parking ($69 per night). Cons: - We checked in at a busy time, but one of the elevators was not working, and there was a pretty substantial line waiting to get to their rooms. - Once in the room, we figured out that there were NO ice makers, and you had to grab ice from the lobby.. So we had to go back down and wait for the elevators again. - No glasses in the room? That was a first.. I typically back my own, of course I didn't have my own this time. - Bathroom doors! For some reason it looks like the original doors were removed, and new farm style sliding doors were installed.. Talk about no privacy.. I hope everyone who stays in a room with one of those doors is no longer trying to keep any mystery in their relationship.
This hotel is beautiful, convenient and extremely great at customer service. They go out of your way to help you everywhere whether it’s housekeeping the restaurant and definitely the front desk. Yes, the hotel is going through renovations Only to make your experience much better when you check into your room it’s going to be a brand new room that was redone completely. Everything about the room is brand new beautiful decor beds that make you want to sleep all day huge TV and if you need anything, they’re there to help ! I would much rather be in a hotel that is undergoing renovations that you only walk through a few minutes, which did not bother me at all. I come to a hotel to be pampered have great customer service and to enjoy myself. Everything is brand new. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
Writing this as a disappointed Hilton Gold Member. I was completely misled and missold by Hilton and priceline on a room at this property which has ongoing renovation works and no facilities available....which I booked as I required somewhere to do work within the hotel the next morning. Priceline blames Hilton for not telling them everything is shut and under renovation and reception blame Priceline for not reading emails. Net result = unhappy customers. They also take $150 per night deposit alongside their $36 resort fee. You can hear the room next door flush the toilet. The mattresses are poor with no support. I found a coffee stain all over the protector, and had to request a new protector and remake the bed. It must have been fairly new as the bed smelt like coffee! For sure issues always can arise in hotels but it's what then happens thereafter that is important, I had asked for a refund within the first 30 minutes and to check out and was denied, only offered the next night refund - 50% of the stay and no guarantee of success chasing that up with Priceline. Re the coffee stain I had to request the mattress protector twice and make the bed myself. Air conditioning did not work it was far too hot above 27 Celsius for sure, my water was warm in the morning. Maybe bad luck? Maybe just a bad hotel? I've never had issues with Hilton hotels but didn't feel that I was dealt with kindness. I've had issues at Marriott hotels in the past and do feel I was met with kindness. Given another couple were requesting an early check out and being spoke to condescendingly about the resort fees in the same queue as me, I think probably the latter - just a really bad example of a Hilton hotel.
My husband is a life diamond member. We stayed at this hotel two years ago and liked the location. This time, we have booked a 4 nights stay. We checked in last night, and was happy that we got upgraded to a suite. I don't care if there is no other service due to the renovation, but I was disappointed that our room even didn't get cleaned when we came back in the late afternoon. When we called for some coffee and two bottled water, we waited for more than an hour. On our way out in the evening, we told the front dest we needed a toothpaste and was told it would be sent to our room. When we came back more than two hours later and no toothpaste in the room, we called again. More than two hours later, nothing. So we called again. This time, it was quick. I don't think I would want to stay at this hotel again.
Every time we are in Boston this is where we stay. We have been staying here since 2008 and although the staff has changed through the years the staff is always friendly and helpful. The hotel is quiet and clean even when you stay at a peak time. The restaurant is great for breakfast and dinner and that staff is terrific too. If you are lucky you will meet Kevin the doorman/ bellman who has been at this hotel for 31 years. I look forward to the next time I can stay at Hilton Back Bay.
I am currently staying here, and there is construction going on above me (drilling incessantly). There was no warning or notification when I booked the room that they were currently under construction. This is unacceptable. I would have chosen a different place if this information had been shared. Additionally, the information about lunch being offered in the Lobby Bar not being open on weekends is not included anywhere. Finally, this is the darkest room I have ever stayed in. The lamps and lights in the room are yellow and subdued. During the daytime, the window provides some light, but at night, it is impossible to see anything that is not directly illuminated by a light. I will not come back here unless changes are made.
Stay was ok. Room is very dark-dark panels, dark carpet, and lights didn’t exceed 45 watts. Room wouldn’t get below 75 degrees F. We had to open the window to cool room down, but then suffer the continuous sirens, vehicle horns, and people yelling. Cleaning staff was helpful but the service desk staff acted as though we were bothering them. For the expense of the room I would expect more from Hilton. No ice machine, nor coffee/tea in lobby. Only had chamomile tea in room. Walked across the street to Four Seasons for Concierge assistance and she said we could enjoy the complimentary Coffee/tea area. Intermittent Power outage on Wednesday night for about four hours. Front desk wouldn’t talk about it. We were on the upper level and no elevator service. Felt like a captive as we are not able to easily traverse that many steps. Probably will not stay here again.
