Located in a prime downtown area with easy access to transit and shopping, this hotel receives mixed feedback. While guests consistently praise the spacious, clean rooms and friendly service, there are significant concerns regarding hidden fees and inconsistent housekeeping. Notable negative reviews detail waking to smoke due to weak ventilation and losing personal items during the stay.
The hotel is in a very walkable location. We chose to get a room with a separate bedroom in case my husband needed a quiet space to do work. The room was great, but the bed was not!! I ended up sleeping in the little sofa because the bed was way too soft, even after they added a board under the mattress to try to make it more firm. Also, thank goodness we we had the room we did and were able to close a door to the bedroom, someone was smoking in an adjacent room and the smell was coming into our bathroom through the vent. I am allergic and it sent me into an asthma attack, went to the front desk, but because we were on our way out to a dinner reservation (it was Feb 14) and the hotel was booked we had to move rooms immediately or they would have to kick out the smokers! We had been in our room for three days and could not move fast enough to pack up, move rooms and make our reservation so we decided to stay and just close doors. What made me most upset is that we were being punished and the hotel rule violators were not… The smoke continued until late and then started very early, and ended around checkout. I suppose I’m disappointed because nothing was done not even a sorry! They made it sound as though kicking them out was a worse option then helping us. Anyway, we really like the Westin, just disappointed that the dismissed this so easily. I am just lucky I have inhalers and the two doors we could close so I could sleep. Perhaps smoke detectors need to be installed in bathrooms to prevent this from happening.
This is my favorite hotel to stay at in Boston. I've stayed a total of 11 nights, and always had a great experience. This is a great place for a conference, or just a getaway. I stayed here for a conference planning meeting to scope out the venue, for the conference itself, and for personal time. Even if there is a hiccup somewhere, the staff is quick to make corrections and offer legitimate perks as consolation. The restaurant has AMAZING food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The drinks are great as well. You cannot beat the location either, it's close to everything from the wharf, to Fenway, to the Freedom Trail.
?? 1 Star – Extremely Disappointing and Unacceptable Experience I had a truly horrible experience at the Westin Copley in Boston, and as a loyal Marriott Bonvoy member, I am beyond disappointed with how this situation was handled from start to finish. One of our bags was lost and/or stolen while staying at this property. The bag contained my professional makeup artist work kit, including $5,000–$6,000 worth of tools and materials that I rely on for my livelihood. What made this situation even worse was the complete lack of urgency, accountability, and basic customer care from both the hotel staff and corporate. I made multiple phone calls to housekeeping and the front desk over the course of weeks, yet no one ever called me back. I escalated the issue to Marriott corporate, only to be met with an extremely hostile and dismissive attitude from the corporate office manager. No empathy, no assistance, and absolutely no compensation was offered despite the seriousness of the situation. After being repeatedly told for weeks that my bag could not be located, it was suddenly “found” in a closet—only after numerous complaints. I then had to drive two hours to retrieve my own property, which should have never gone missing in the first place. To this day, there has been zero follow-up, no apology, and no resolution from either the hotel or corporate. The lack of communication and responsibility has completely destroyed my trust in this property and in how Marriott handled the incident. For a brand that claims to value its guests—especially loyal Bonvoy members—this experience was unacceptable and deeply frustrating. I would not recommend the Westin Copley Boston to anyone, particularly those traveling with valuable or professional equipment. Disclaimer .. this was MY experience police report was made ultimately someone at the hotel contacted me that they found the bag, however there was no follow up corporate was extremely rude, there were also a ton of hidden charges with valet and zero parking in the area …. Most likely you will enjoy your experience but in my case it was horrible and concerning
I travel frequently and usually trust the Marriott brand. Unfortunately, this stay seriously fell short. I paid for Club Access services that were not provided, and my three-day trip with my spouse was significantly disrupted. On Day 1, the Club Lounge was closed with no prior notice, and this was not disclosed during booking. Paying the full Club rate while receiving an inferior alternative is misleading to guests. Service issues continued throughout the stay, including unprofessional and rude staff behavior, which ultimately forced us to check out one night earlier than planned. This was not a choice—it was the result of ongoing service failures. I have requested that management review camera footage and staff actions. If any part of my account is inaccurate, I have asked to be informed in writing. I will also be sharing photos showing how inactive and empty the “Club” area was during the day—it’s difficult to understand how this went unnoticed by management. Such inconsistency between Marriott properties should not exist, especially in a major U.S. city like Boston. This experience has shaken my confidence in the brand. I hope future guests receive the service they pay for.
First time at this hotel and couldn't ask for better experience. I unfortunately had to cut my trip short and the front desk and management were incredibly accommodating. The lobby area was in xmas decorb and looked great. The room was large and plenty of towels were avail. The highlight of the room was the scented oil to help one sleep. Smells divine. Location of hotel is very convenient to several tourists areas of boston with the public liberty 10 steps away along with trinity church. I wouldn't need to be asked 2x to stay here again
I've stayed at this Westin multiple times over the past 3 years. We have a pleasant stay each and every time. There is definitely a quietness here that I like too. The staff here is professional and courteous, almost business-like in their mannerisms. The valets are nice and do a great job of taking care of your car whenever you need it. If you need something, they will take care of it! The hotel has been well maintained but definitely shows a little wear and tear in some areas, especially in the room. Nothing to make a big fuss about though. The beds are comfortable and the room had everything we needed including a mini-fridge. The bathrooms were nice, but the water pressure was kind of weak. I do like that the windows open slightly for when we need some fresh air! Elevators are fast and never crowded. And for those visiting from afar, the highway entrance is literally a block away! One thing I like about this hotel and the location is that it connects to Prudential Center. It's convenient to be able to navigate to areas through Prudential Center to avoid cold or inclement weather, besides the fact that Prudential Center has so many shops and eateries as well. I like the Westin and plan to stay here again.
Great stay for our business trip. Room was very spacious. Very friendly staff. Hotel location was great as you're right next to Copley Square, Boston Public Library, as well as transit stations and stops. Definitely more of a commercial/business oriented hotel (i.e. doesn't really have character inside or out). Rooms could maybe use an occasional extra attention clean, especially on surfaces that are right near eyeline (just considering the rates they ask). Still a place I'd definitely stay again for business.
The staff are great and the location is perfect, if you want to be on this side of the city. The rooms are not at all accurate for what the Westin is selling. They say there's a coffee maker in the room, there's not. They say there's a fridge in the room, there's not. I'm fine if a hotel doesn't have them, but don't lie about it! Look for another hotel if you want a pool or spa services. It's a solid 3 star hotel.
I wouldn't stay here again. At check-in the hotel adds a previously undisclosed $30-$35 daily "destination charge.". They offer to credit back $20 per day if you eat in one of their establishments. Bar 10 is one such option. We went there for breakfast. The $9 coffee was served lukewarm. After sitting for 45 minutes without our meal, a coffee refill, or even a glass of water we left. They apologized for the poor service and didn't charge for the coffee. Next we went to the hotel concierge to request assistance with dinner reservations. We gave the concierge the name of the restaurant and a window of times. By late afternoon we had not received a call back from the concierge regarding our reservation. When we called the restaurant, we discovered that the reservation was outside our requested time window. We rebooked the reservation ourselves at a time that was within the earliest and latest times we gave to the concierge. This hotel is not at all customer or service oriented. For the price, you can do better looking elsewhere.
I stay here while on work trips often several times a month. The hotel is clean and centrally located. Elevators get crowded when there is a convention. I would like the gym to have dumbbells up to 75 lbs like other hotels of similar size. Westin beds are comfortable. The highlight for me is the lounge is well staffed and Irene always remembers me- I wish more Bonvoy employees were like her.
