Recent guests praise the friendly, professional staff and the prime Copley Square location near public transport and Boston attractions. However, negative reviews frequently cite the hotel's severe need for refurbishment, including issues with room cleanliness, poor HVAC, noise from the street, and outdated amenities.
The first thing to say it’s that the personnel is 10/10. Everyone we interacted to was very friendly and professional. We had a couple of issues during our stay but the front desk team and the manager did all their best to solve them, and because of this we left the place very pleased and I’d go back again. Rooms are nice, mine was corner with 2 windows in the 3rd floor and very silent. Cleaning was profesional, beds were extremely comfortable and the location is perfect with Logan Express bus very near, two T stops within minutes and the prudential center crossing the street. They have a room with coffee for free 24/7 and some vending machines. They put bottled water every day in rooms at cleaning. I’d stay there again and I recommend this place.
Stayed here before the blizzard to be able to get to work (hospital). Team was great- appreciate their work throughout the storm. They were definitely dealing with some difficult patrons from things I overheard and were handling everything professionally. Room was clean and bedding was very comfortable. Thank you!
The front desk and general staff are extremely nice and helpful. The hotel is beautiful if not a slight bit outdated. The rooms are a very good size especially for a city. Coming here with a group taking several rooms some rooms were very cold and others very warm. However the ballroom where the event was held was absolutely beautiful. Overall it was a good experience and the location is excellent.
?????????? Outstanding Service from an Exceptional Team I cannot say enough great things about the service at this hotel—it was truly top-tier from start to finish. What made the experience exceptional was the people. Ben, the manager, sets the standard for what hospitality should be. He was professional, attentive, and genuinely cared about making sure every detail of our stay was perfect. You can tell he leads by example, and it shows throughout the entire property. Claudia and Joanna, the assistant managers, were absolutely amazing. They were warm, welcoming, and incredibly responsive. No matter the request, they handled everything with grace, efficiency, and a smile. Their positive energy and attention to detail made us feel truly valued as guests. A huge shout-out as well to Maria, the housekeeping manager. The cleanliness and care put into the rooms and common areas were impeccable. It’s clear she runs a tight ship and takes great pride in her work—everything was spotless and well maintained. This team went above and beyond in every way. It wasn’t just a stay—it was an experience. Exceptional service like this is rare, and it’s the reason I will absolutely be coming back and recommending this hotel to everyone I know. Thank you to Ben, Claudia, Joanna, and Maria for making the stay unforgettable.
I had a wonderful stay at the Copley Square Hotel, and one of the biggest advantages is its excellent location. The hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of Boston, making it incredibly convenient for both sightseeing and relaxing city walks. It is just steps away from the Boston Public Library and very close to the Public Garden, which was lovely to visit, especially for peaceful strolls. Newbury Street is right nearby, offering great shopping, dining, and café options, and the Prudential Center is also within easy walking distance. The rooms were cozy, comfortable, and very clean. While not overly large, they were thoughtfully arranged and had everything needed for a pleasant stay. I also appreciated the calm and welcoming atmosphere of the hotel. Despite being in such a central location, the room felt quiet and relaxing after a long day of exploring the city. The bed was comfortable, and the cleanliness of both the room and bathroom stood out. Overall, Copley Square Hotel is a great choice for travelers looking for a clean, cozy stay in an unbeatable location. With easy access to major attractions, public transport, shopping, and dining, it offers excellent value. I would happily stay here again on my next visit to Boston.
Overall, our stay at the Copley Square Hotel was fine but nothing to write home about. It was the most financially friendly stay we could find at the time. The reviews had me concerned about what I might walk into but I was happy with the room and the state of it. The room and bed was clean and the noise level was on par for a city. Having a bar/restaurant down below was convenient on nights when the weather was rough. The hotel had a historic feel which was something to appreciate. What I didn't like was that the wifi was very slow. This in conjunction with having poor cell service made it a pain point when trying to research things to do in the city and nearby. The water was hot but the pressure was pretty low. When we arrived the mini fridge was turned off which is understandable from a power saving perspective but that renders it useless for the first night until it cools down which is a bit inconvenient. The coffee provided in the lobby was more like hot water with a hint of coffee. However, the selection of tea options was nice.
YMMV. Coming from NYC on a day trip, room was spacious, although very dated. As others note, it's clean but dark. Mostly quiet, comfortable. I would probably give another half star (if I could), but parking is super expensive ($85 if you stay past 2pm; we paid $35 for a 24-hour slot nearby), and the nicely appointed kitchen off the lobby has atrocious coffee. Maybe machine has never been cleaned. No breakfast of any kind. I didn't really shop around for a day trip, so I was satisfied. However in no one's world is this a luxury spot. Good location, quiet (by city standards), comfortable. Probably wouldn't stay again.
Great location and the price was good. However, room was tiny, sheets on bed were dirty/stained (eew) and the water in the shower was tepid at the hottest setting which is doubly curious as there was hot water in the faucet at the vanity sink. Also, no in-room or lobby coffee. There is a guest kitchen with a coffee machine in it but it made revolting brown water that could not be accurately described as coffee. It does have a large in room fridge, a plus if you want to chill your own drinks or store restaurant left overs, but the cold shower and less than pristine bed linens predominate in my rationale for giving this one star.
I’ve never written a bad review before, but this place deserves it. This hotel was honestly horrible, you can’t rest, you can’t sleep, you smell after staying, and it doesn’t feel clean at all. Here is my experience: 1. Disgusting air quality: The room smelled like mud, dust, and something damp. The air was heavy and hard to breathe, and there was no real fresh air. I woke up multiple times with an itchy, blocked throat just from staying in the room. 2. Smelly bed: Even the bed had a musty, unpleasant smell. I felt like I was getting “marinated” in it. I was so disgusted by the smell! My clothes even picked up the room smell, so I had to keep them in my luggage. 3. Nasty bathroom: The bathroom had no ventilation. We asked to switch rooms, but most rooms in this hotel either don’t have a bathroom vent or the vent doesn’t work. So every smell stayed in the bathroom and then spread into the room. It felt humid and gross. 4. Constant noise: It was loud all the time. You can hear traffic and people from the street, plus noise from other rooms. On top of that, the AC unit kept turning on and off every few minutes and was extremely loud. Sleeping was almost impossible. Overall this hotel is dirty, smelly, noisy, and extremely gross. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
I recently stayed here for two nights with my husband, and unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel. While the location is excellent and the price was slightly lower than nearby options, it’s still far too expensive for what it offers. The rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. Upon check-in, the first room we were given had holes in the wall, scratched wallpaper, and a filthy bathtub base. We brought this to the manager’s attention—he was kind and accommodating—and we were upgraded to another room. While the second room was in somewhat better condition, the thermostat didn’t work properly. Our first night was uncomfortably hot, and we had to sleep with the window open. When my husband went to open the curtains, we noticed they were covered in what appeared to be coffee stains. The next morning, maintenance was sent to fix the heat issue. When we returned that evening, the heat was fixed—but then only the AC worked. The second night was freezing, as the temperature wouldn’t rise above 60 degrees. If you’re traveling with a car, I highly recommend parking it yourself in the adjacent parking garage—it’s the same lot the hotel valet uses. The website advertises valet parking with in-and-out privileges for $65 per day, but what they fail to mention is that the fee only covers parking until 2 p.m., after which additional charges apply. We paid $90 for parking for 2 nights by parking ourselves. Our experience with valet was extremely disappointing. When we first arrived, the valet attendant told us there was no room for our car. Thinking it was a misunderstanding, we circled the block and called the hotel, who confirmed valet service was available and advised us to pull up to the front. When we returned, my husband was told again that there was no room and was bluntly instructed to “go park the car yourself.” When he went inside to clarify with hotel staff, they seemed just as confused and mentioned that valet has overflow spaces in the adjacent garage. Later that evening, we learned that valet is a separate company from the hotel. Regardless, the entire situation was handled poorly. Even if there wasn’t space immediately available, the valet or front desk staff could have offered to assist with check-in or our luggage. Instead, we ended up parking the car ourselves and carrying all our belongings through two levels of the garage and across a busy intersection to reach the hotel. Overall, while the staff were polite, the property’s condition, maintenance issues, and poor valet experience made our stay frustrating and uncomfortable.
