The Embassy Suites Hotel – Boston/Waltham receives mixed reviews, highlighting both positive aspects like spacious suites, good breakfast and convenient location, alongside significant concerns regarding cleanliness, staff service, and unexpected fees. Recent feedback indicates a decline in service quality and attention to detail, particularly concerning housekeeping and transparency with charges.
The rooms are okay. Couches and sheets were dirty. The bathroom sink can barely train. The walls are sound proof which is great. Love the way the room is set up to hear no noise from outside the room. The Indian women workers at the front desk are really rude and impolite. Paying for parking is absolutely absurd I had to park at another lot hoping to not get ticketed or towed to avoid paying $15 a night on top of the $100 incidentals for every night you stay. It smelled so bad in the lobby and right outside. Smell of weed or just mold or something spoiled. Pillows were way too soft.
We stayed Feb 15 - 17. Rooms were big and look clean for us. Food was delish with good selection. I’m rating it an overall 3 is because of the service I got from the front desk. I approached the lady at the front desk after ordering food at the restaurant, I asked if they have a premium wifi, she looked at me, and outright said, there’s a charge of $12 or something. No asking what your room number or what not, but she insisted, it is for premium customers. Had she asked for the room number, it saves her and my time to see that we are diamond members. She eventually gave it and told me she didn’t know I was a diamond member. Due diligence is the key. Don’t judge your customers based how simple their clothes look. Being the front desk, she’s not just the face but the voice of the brand. Being pretty isn’t enough in business that you want customers to keep coming back. Will we come back? Likely not. But they definitely need to train their staff better especially being the first person customers can come in contact with. Word of Mouth is a powerful marketing force. Cleaning staff and kitchen staff seems great. When we checked in (a different lady) was an okay experience (nothing great but not bad). The other staff (encounter on 15th Feb at 7:45pm) whoever she was. She needs a little training.
I would like to personally thank assistant general manager Hilary Mborja for everything she did to make our stay most memorable. She is truly heaven sent! February 14th is my wife's birthday, and our stay was great! The Governor' Suite was more than we could have hoped for. It is 1200 sq ft of pure luxury! With a separate tub, shower and water closet - there was more than enough space for the both of us to be in the bathroom at the same time. The French doors that lead into the bedroom made it fit for both king & queen. The exceptionally beautiful front room/living space combination was large enough to host a party! With two separate TVs, we could both watch what we wanted at the same time! ? I look forwarded to visiting again real soon. Thank you so much Hilary! May God continue to bless you! ?
I stayed at the Embassy Suites by Hilton with my husband and child and overall it was a mixed experience. Unfortunately, there was no heat in our room during our stay due to boiler issues, and the hotel itself felt quite cold, which made our stay very uncomfortable. I did bring this to the hotel’s attention, especially since we are Hilton Honors members, and I am still awaiting a refund or resolution, which has been disappointing. On a positive note, the evening happy hour was a nice touch with free snacks, though drinks were complimentary only for non-alcoholic beverages, which was a bit misleading compared to expectations. The biggest bonus was the pool—it was absolutely beautiful and huge, definitely a highlight and great for families. That said, the breakfast was hands down the standout feature of our stay. It was excellent, well-stocked, and truly lived up to the Embassy Suites reputation. The breakfast alone made a strong impression and helped balance out some of the negatives. With better communication, faster resolution of issues, and improved comfort during colder months, this hotel has the potential to be much better as it was cold.
They now charge $100 extra on top as a deposit a night NOT total stay like other places!!! Used to be $75 to a $100 deposit for the stay!! We used to come 3x a year for 3 years, our child to pick up from college. Won’t be no more!! Garden Hilton, and my timeshare charges $50 for 4 star.. NOPE!!! This place is dated and charged deposits A NIGHT!!! I can AIRBNB, and get a room in Boston off the water with less of a deposit!! And they just changed it to this mess, last time we stayed was May ‘25, and was charged $75 deposit for the stay and we are rewards holders!! Hmph
This Embassy Suites is very dated and worn, though technically serviceable. The bathroom had no washcloths, and the sheets were threadbare with visible thin spots. The fitness room has a few bikes and treadmills, free weights, and old yoga mats—old and dingy but usable. Breakfast was a plus: a decent buffet is included, and most staff were pleasant. My second-floor room had noticeable bar noise at night. The worst part of the stay occurred at checkout. In the lobby, a staff member aggressively tried to sell me a Hilton vacation package and pressured me to make an immediate decision involving hundreds of dollars. The price of this "great deal" kept dropping from $900 to $499 to $299 if I would only "act now!" despite my repeatedly saying no. He only stopped after I clearly stated I don’t make large impulse purchases in hotel lobbies, then told me I was “passing up free money and most people lose out on good deals because of indecision” and would never "better myself unless I thought differently.” This from a man wearing a cheap suit trying to hustle tired travelers in the lobby of a 3-star hotel. This interaction was extremely inappropriate and took this stay from fine to bad. I probably wouldn't have stayed there again but now it's for certain. I will definitely not return.
Just no. Room was not clean… layers of dust in the vents, mold on the window seal, yucky substance on the curtains, holes in the curtains, holes in the towels, and a room that smelled like cigarettes. It was so bad. I am a huge fan of Embassy, but this experience was terrible. Be prepared to pay for parking ($15 per night) which they clearly post, but seems unreasonable given the area. There is a Manager’s Reception, but there are no complimentary alcoholic beverages in Massachusetts. Breakfast was minimalistic and just not great compared to other Embassy properties. Despite the pics… no hot tub as it has been tiled over. The pool is a little awkward to get to from the rooms. I am not one to complain… but I think folks should know this is a very poorly managed property. When we complained about the smell they took off our parking fee and then sent a maintenance worker to the room to spray a deodorizing spray— it did not help. Let me leave you with a positive— we liked the location. It is close to Lexington and Concord… about 30 minutes into Boston. We went to New Hampshire and Rhode Island very easily. Easy access to restaurants, shopping, and such… all within a few minutes drive. I have stayed at many Embassy Suites and they are my favorite hotel… my go to. This one is the first one I have been disappointed in and I wish I had read the reviews more carefully before spending a week here.
This hotel offers more than just the basics. Complimentary breakfast, evening bar and appetizers for a fee, a nice set up (“two room” suites that include a separate living room with sofa bed). Microwave, kitchenette, hair dryer, high quality soaps, shampoo, and conditioner in rooms (my skin and hair thanks you, Hilton). The breakfast was good. Omelette station, fruit, oatmeal, toast and pastry station, cereal bar, juices and coffee, yogurt labelled as Greek but I ain’t no fool lol, and more…and plenty of seating in the dining area and the bar area too. The staff were friendly — never any weird vibes from them. Especially the gentleman on shift this past Friday late night. He was such a pleasant person. The wifi connection was strong and mighty. The room was tidy enough for my liking. Smelled good, sheets were perfectly cleaned, and the carpet was well-vacuumed. However, the walls need a wipe down in the bedroom and living room, and the kitchenette. The wallpaper needs a little glue too in some areas. These aren’t deal-breakers though. I would stay here again if I discovered more entertainment in the neighbourhood. Management, please tend to the walls—old drink splashes and other weird marks can lower the overall experience to some people. The location isn’t very walkable. However, The Local (a restaurant nearby is a 3 min rideshare away)— it’s a vibe. Bar area and dining area are both nice. Staff are equally as nice as the Hotel staff. Thanks guys! :)
I have stayed at this hotel a few times with family and it’s my go to place to stay when visiting Boston. We love the two room suite, the sofa bed is very comfortable and the extra sink by the microwave and coffee maker is convenient. I have consistently received good service, never had problems with room or towels or cleanliness or food. I’m surprised to see the negative reviews. Last week during our stay, the hotel was full with several school sports teams. And yet service was quick, room was clean, the made to order egg white omelette at breakfast was delicious. The room, breakfast area and the lobby were all spacious. I’ll definitely be back when I visit my college student in Boston again.
I’m going to assume that most of the negative reviews are from people who are picky and expect everything to be perfect. This is a very nice hotel, especially considering its lower prices compared to other hotels in the Boston area. The only real issues we ran into (which were very minor) were that we had to call down twice to the front desk for new towels since housekeeping never brought any, and I noticed that some of the furniture is a bit worn and damaged, specifically the tables and lampshades. But again, extremely minor point. The hotel staff were friendly and our room was very nice and clean. Overall a great experience staying here and I’d most definitely consider coming back.
