The Residence Inn by Marriott Boston Downtown/Seaport consistently receives positive feedback for its modern design, spacious rooms, and convenient location near the waterfront and downtown attractions. While some guests appreciate the friendly staff and thoughtful amenities like complimentary breakfast and grocery service, recurring concerns regarding noise levels, particularly from garbage truck pickups and neighboring rooms, and occasional staff responsiveness have been noted.
I stayed here for 14 days after donating a kidney. I felt safe and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast was nice. The staff were nice. I loved my room and the overall hotel. I also loved the area it was located. The only downfall was my room was 612 and we could hear the people in the room next to us just talking. We could hear phone conversations and things throughout the night we definitely didn’t want to hear. There is an air filtration system you can turn on that works as an amazing noise machine, but you can’t hear your TV if that is in. I still would stay in that exact room again. I loved it there!
Stayed here for a girls' night with two of my friends. The larger corner suite was perfect for us and super clean. The room was immaculate and the hotel itself is really cool and funky. The dual shower heads were a nice touch and the free breakfast in the morning was great. It's a 5 minute walk to the piers so you can enjoy the beautiful views whole you drink your coffee. My only complaint about my stay was that it was so incredibly loud the night we were there (Saturday). Inside the hotel wasn't loud, but there were people yelling outside, cars honking, motorcycles revving their engines, etc going on for hours. Thankfully, I had my headphones, so I popped those in and was able to fall asleep. If I didn't have those, I'd have been up all night it was that loud. None of this was the hotel's fault, but it might be worth it to bring headphones or earplugs in case you get a random rowdy crew outside like I did. I also like the smart TV in the rooms. Super helpful!
TL;DR 1. Apparent lack of training and horrible attitude from staff members 2. Non-existent sound proofing that lying in bed you can hear everything from neighboring rooms clearly 3. 4am 10+ mins garbage truck pickup daily on the alley side and they’re “always fully booked with lots of clients staying for weeks/months” guests have low chance of switching out of Actual review: Nice and new renovation, large room with separated area for business and bed. Very happy with the room until the nightmare started. Woken up by garbage truck backing up and picking up at 4am, continued for 10+ mins. I lived in city all my life and my home is right across from a police station and I’ve never had any issue. This noise level shows there’s no soundproofing in the wall/windows at all. Went downstairs at 8:50am to let front desk know. Alana mentioned the hotel is fully aware of this issue and has asked the city to pick up trash after 6am. Also mentioned they’re fully booked and all the opening rooms they have are facing the alley. Explained they often have guest staying for long periods of time and therefore non-alley-facing rooms are hard to get. After asking nicely for a few times, Alana eventually found us a handicapped room. The room isn’t ready yet and Alana asked us to pack our bags and let her know and they'll move the room for us. Came back and assessed the luggage situation, figured out the bags can’t be packed into a state that can be moved by hotel staff securely. Went back down at 11am to let Alana know that we're not comfortable with the hotel moving our stuff and inquiring if our new room is ready yet. Alana, originally working with who I assume is the manager, started recounting our whole interaction, word by word. I was dumbfounded by the attitude and asked if we can please get a time estimate of the room. No. Asked if we can get a call when the room is ready then? Reluctantly took a note of the phone number. The whole interaction the manager was standing right next to Alana but never bothered to intervene. Got a call at 1pm saying the room is ready. Went back to hotel at 5:15pm. Staff 2 wasn't aware of our situation and called for help. Staff 3 came and said it's past 4pm, the housekeeping staff has left. So apparantly our new room is still available but since there's no one to prep our old room they can't let us move? Staff 2 told us to come back again the day after to see if they have any room avaialble for us to move. I was quite angry at this point and let the staff know that we were not communicated about this 4pm issue. Staff 3 went to the back, came back and said they do have a housekeeping member on staff, but that member "isn't properly trained and will take a long time to get the room ready". I failed to understand how their staff training issue is the guests' concern. Was eventually allowed to move. In the new room, one of the bath towels had what looked like a ball of tangled hair. Gave us a scare as it looked like a spider. At night laying in bed we can hear clearly the conversation from the neighboring room about their schedule for the next day. TV and coughing from the other neighboring room. The neighboring rooms are pretty understanding and quieted down soon and were quite mindful the next few days. The new room faces the street, garbage truck still came at 6am but it was fast pickup so manageable. Friday night, came back late and noticed club next street is lined up with people. Laid in bed and surprise surprise, we can hear all the people on the street chatting loud and clear. Bottle clanging, people chatting, laughing, tripping, cab honking and honking and honking. This lasted well past 2am. This is our last night already so we just toughed it out. Final day, checking out. Staff member 4 asked us how was the stay. I smiled and politely said horrible. No follow-up or acknowledgement from staff member 4 at all. This is a 3-star hotel so we weren't expecting exceptional service but it's safe to say we don't think this should even be a 3-star hotel.
What a great experience. The design of the hotel is like no other Residence Inn. The rooms are spacious, clean and easy to navigate. The bathrooms are small and there could be improvements there. The staff are helpful and welcoming. Easy to park and lots of dining options nearby. Great spot!
I am at the residence Inn by Marriott in downtown Boston Seaport, and this hotel has the best service I have ever experienced. I only wanna stay at Marriott hotels if they’re going to have this level of service special shout out to Ashly for answering every annoying question I had thru chat with graciousness and thoroughness. To Veronica & Widelfry for going above and beyond to accommodate parents ability to sleep with two munchkins on the sofa bed by graciously changing the studio type where the sofa bed and bed are far away from each other! I’m going to stay at a Marriott again for next hotel stay and if the service is like this I’m a loyal customer!!!
I am an Ambassador Elite member with Marriott and this stay was an absolute disappointment. Upon check-in on December 15th, 2025, I was assigned Room 624, which was freezing cold. I reported the issue immediately and was told it would be fixed. I waited outside the room for nearly three hours. When I was later informed the issue was resolved, I returned to find the room unchanged. When I reported this again, I was challenged by the front desk receptionist (Allana, or a similar name), who was extremely rude and unprofessional. I asked her to personally check the room if she did not believe me. After staff inspected it, they admitted the heating issue was not fixed and could not be fixed at all. While waiting in the lobby, I witnessed multiple other guests experiencing the same issue. It became clear that management was aware that many rooms had no working heat, yet guests were still being checked in. This was during very cold weather in Boston (around 14°F), and I saw guests waiting in the lobby wearing coats, gloves, and hats. Later that day, I was moved to another room with working heat. However, the following morning I discovered the room (Room 411) was dirty and had bed bugs. I woke up with multiple bites on my feet. I immediately contacted the Marriott Ambassador line, had my reservation canceled, and moved to another hotel. I stay in hotels roughly half the year, and this ranks as one of the worst hotel experiences I have had. I strongly recommend avoiding this property—especially in winter. If you do stay, consider bringing your own mattress cover and sheets.
We’ve stayed at many Marriott properties over the years, but the Residence Inn Boston Downtown/Seaport was by far one of the most impressive! The building layout and design were unreal. It gave off Brooklyn-style vibes with little bridges connecting each floor. Everything felt modern, stylish, and welcoming. Our room was incredibly spacious, and the entire hotel was spotless! You can tell the cleaning team truly takes pride in their work. Every staff member we met was friendly and helpful, but special shoutouts go to Widelfry, Alanna, and Elizabeth for making our stay even better! Widelfry made check-in a breeze and gave us great food recommendations. Alanna and Elizabeth greeted us with genuine smiles every time we walked through the lobby. Alanna was even working at the bar one night, showing her drive and willingness to learn every part of the hotel. They also offer complimentary breakfast daily for guests, which we didn’t get to try but really appreciated as a thoughtful touch! And something I’ve never seen at any other property — you can actually leave your grocery list with the front desk by a certain time in the morning, and they’ll shop for you and add it to your room bill. Such a unique and convenient service that really shows how much the hotel cares about its guests! We’d never stayed in this area before and rented a car, but next time we wouldn’t. Everything from Snowport Market to restaurants, bars, and museums was within walking distance. Even the one Uber we took was only $8, and the hotel is close to the airport too. The service, cleanliness, and all the small thoughtful details made this hotel truly shine. Because of this amazing team, we’ll absolutely be back!
Beautiful hotel. Newer Residence Inn with the designed rooms giving some old Boston charm. Clean rooms. Upon entry there are cookies by the wonderful and kind reception staff. LUCKY'S is a half block over and a great late night choice. Many places to eat surrounding the hotel. Parking garage is very close, but they also don't mind if you unload your car and stay in the driveway a few minutes. Very convenient.
My favorite hotel in the seaport. Spacious rooms with great finishings. Fabulous location. Flour bakery and many great restaurants are nearby and south station is a short walk.
Cool hotel. Very new and well maintained. They upgraded me to a suite which was nice. Such a cool part of town. I’d definitely stay here again. It was a bit pricey for a residence inn… ~$650 / night. But the hotel and staff were all wonderful. So no complaints from me.
