The DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Downtown receives mixed reviews, with some praising its location, cleanliness, and friendly staff, while others cite issues with parking, inconsistent service, and outdated amenities. Recent feedback highlights concerns about employee behavior and billing discrepancies, affecting overall guest satisfaction.
Stayed here for a business trip. The staff were very friendly. There is an Executive Lounge that can be used if you have Diamond status. Includes free breakfast for Diamond members. My stay was lot long so I did not need any housekeeping. Plenty of restaurants in walking distance and was a 5 minute ride to where I needed to work at for the few days I was in town.
The room was very comfortable including the bed, shower, etc. My only real complaint was parking. Because it was frozen outside, the girl behind the counter said that the normal garage entrance was closed and that I would have to go around. Unfortunately, the garage is not labeled as being for the hotel. I had no instructions on how to get in or out without paying, which was really irritating. Some training for the front staff is probably in order.
I can't wait to stay here. Over the phone the reservations desk was so helpful at were able to find an excellent deal for me even though the SNHU discount rate rooms were already all booked. I'm so excited to stay across from the SNHU Arena for graduation.
So I stayed a whole week and my room was only serviced once. So ran out of coffee on day two. The service at some of the 2* hotels near manchester airport are better - and offer free parking. Was very disturbed to hear Antonio on front-desk talking to co-workers about the unfortunate homeless people in Manchester as "Zombies". This de-humanising less fortunate people in their community is totally at odds with Hilton's core vales. I worry what he'd say about minorities or other marginalized members of society. I come to Manchester monthly and this was my first (and last time) staying at the DoubleTree.
Overall great, but I will suggest not going to the buffet breakfast, it is not included and def not worth the price of admission. There is a great breakfast place around the corner (all indoors walking), just passed the parking garage that has great breakfast sandwiches!
Not a big fan of writing reviews, but when something is not what it is foretold to be, i like to warn innocent people of bad business practices....ZERO STARS. Where do I start. We arrived and were told we have to pay 15$/night for parking ( not previously mentioned) the room we rented didn't have the microwave we were told it had (there was a single one in the lobby, I'm assuming that was the included microwave although booking.com said it was in the room, and we were on floor 7) The breakfast that was included in our purchase, was NOT included with our purchase. The beds were very uncomfortable for my entire family, not just me. The "pool and spa" were just a pool, no spa (money grab) The food in the restaurant in the lobby was bland, tasteless, and overpriced for what it was. Upon arrival home, we checked our bill and noticed that they charged us for our dinner and drinks to our room, even though we paid cash, and when we called to resolve the billing issue we were met with rude comments and were send down a spiraling list of numbers and extensions to call only to be met with a voicemail that was full, thus not resolving the billing. The only thing they have going is the many amenities for drinks and dinner OUTSIDE of the hotel in the area. 10 / 10 would NOT recommend this place to anybody. Your only paying for the hotel lobby to look decent. EDIT: After reading the other negative reviews after writing this one, I'm hoping for a real resolution to these issues, not the mundane responses others have received for their unfortunate visit to this location.
BEWARE, READ ALL Such a bummer experience when it should have been the greatest weekend of all, my spouse graduated from SNHU. The free breakfast at Holiday Inn Express was 10x better than the $43.00(for 2 people) breakfast here at DoubleTree. But the main issue was the lady at the front desk, I wish I had her name because she should find a dfferent career. She was very short, rude and noticeably irritated with every question we had. There was no microwaves in the rooms. We booked this hotel for the free shuttle service that we didn't get to use. The deposit was supposed to be $100 and it was $150. The deposit was refunded very quickly, that's really the only plus about this place. I will never stop telling people the horrible experience we had there.
Pros: Location. Beds & pillows. Pool. Honors area. Cons: Very noisy AC, Motion Sensing Thermostat, Parking, Housekeeping every 5 nights?, Tired hallway, Honors area not kept tidy. We were on the 12 floor and had a very loud noisy air conditioner and did not sleep well because of it. I can't impress upon you enough how loud it was. What good is a hotel room if you cannot sleep? Also, we finely figured out the room had a motion sensing thermostat. The room had a temp. of 77 with the AC cranking and curtains pulled when we arrived. We went out to dinner and it was still warm when we returned. This also bothered us at night since the temperature increased once we fell asleep. Both the AC and thermostat need to be fixed. We did not call the front desk. We would have spent our day with our daughter working on fixing their problem. We are usually a fan of less housekeeping but 5 nights is a bit long time to go!!! Really? Notice on our bill both the parking garage fee and self parking fee. There are 2-3 other hotels within walking distance. We will try those next.
I stayed at this hotel and couldn't wait to write a review. I have found it hard to relax after witnessing such uncomfortable behavior. I was disappointed by how an experienced staff member treated a new employee. The trainee was clearly trying to learn, but instead of receiving support, the experienced staff member spoke down to him, raised their voice, and embarrassed him in front of guests. This not only created an uncomfortable atmosphere but also showed a lack of professionalism. A training manual alone can’t replace proper guidance and encouragement. This experience left me with a negative impression, and I hope the hotel can improve its training approach in the future
This hotel was phenomenal! Great location, professional service, and excellent accommodations. Parking was a breeze and there are great places to eat or visit within a very short walking distance. Stephanie greeted me every morning with a smile, fun conversation, and spectacular service when called upon that made me feel like I was a VIP. When I come back to Manchester, I will stay here every time.
