The Ritz-Carlton, Boston consistently receives high praise for its location, service, and luxurious accommodations, often lauded as a top choice for visitors to Boston. However, recent reviews highlight issues with luggage handling, dated design elements, and in some cases, inconsistent cleanliness standards.
Extremely disappointing experience at the Ritz-Carlton Boston. After our stay, we left our luggage with the hotel while we stepped out briefly. When we returned, the bell attendant loaded our car but forgot one of our bags. We only realized this after driving 5 hours back home. We immediately contacted the hotel, and two weeks later, I still don’t have my luggage. It contains valuable personal items , and despite multiple follow-ups, I have received no clear answers. I was told it was shipped via FedEx, yet I never received any tracking number or confirmation. For a brand like Ritz-Carlton, this level of service is unacceptable. While the staff was polite, the handling of this situation has been extremely poor and stressful. To add, the overall experience did not match expectations: the bar was closed on both Sunday and Monday, and the rooms have an outdated, noisy ventilation system. I expected much better accountability and service.
All in all, not at the level of other Ritz properties. It felt like a comfortable, clean, and friendly standard Marriott hotel. Somewhat dated property, with basic service. It felt like a standard Marriott that was an ounce nicer, needs were met but never anticipated nor exceeded. Breakfast hostess was rude and not attentive, welcome lacked warmth, view was terrible, but room had very standard amenities (even the coffee service was plain), and nothing felt justified to the $800 a room night price!
This was a deeply disappointing experience, bringing to light very poor hygiene and cleanliness practices at this hotel. The previous guest in our room had clearly cut (facial?) hair in the bathroom. The hair carpeted the bathroom sink, counters, and floor, and scattered throughout the rest of the room, exposing that surfaces and floors were not cleaned at all between guests. There was also a large wad of hair in the corner of the toilet room, waste left in the toilet, and ‘goop’ on the shower door. We cleaned the room ourselves, but were left questioning what else the Ritz is not cleaning/replacing between guests. Or if gloves are regularly changed while cleaning rooms. This seems to be a systemic issue, as we witnessed other sanitary concerns at the hotel. We were offered an apology and 20k Marriott points following our stay (though our follow-up email went unanswered). For reference, one weekend night here is over 100k points.
A short two-night stay. The busy lobby and greeting were a bit impersonal - for a Ritz-Carlton, I felt that a more personal, warm touch could be provided. The room was large, clean, but again I found it quite sterile in design. The hotel is not by any means bad, and the location is excellent, but it seems very corporate in nature and lacks the true luxury touches that would really make a stay stand out. Stay here, and you will get a consistent quality, but nothing that is really special compared to other luxury hotels, and Ritz-Carlton’s that I have stayed in.
Enjoying our stay. Very good base to visit Boston. Great service great location rooms comfortable. Renovated but still has a bit of a dated feeling. The only drawback. However thoroughly recommend it. If we return to Boston we will surely return to the Ritz. Finishing this review on our last day here. Sunday lunch the 28th. I believe that this place is made by the people that work here. Ryan and Adriatic the concierge. Noel and Melissa at the Avery and so many others. We had a wonderful time. Will definitely return if we are back in Boston.
The service was attentive without ever feeling over the top. Every staff member from the front desk to housekeeping was professional, warm, and helpful. The room itself was beautiful. Both luxurious and comfortable, with luxurious linens, a spacious bathroom with large soaking tub and walk-in shower. It felt like home away from home. Located in the perfect area of downtown.
Extremely welcoming people, the concierge gave us a solid list of restaurants, and Gabriela at the reception desk could not have been any nicer. Very nice spacious rooms. Greatly recommend the Hotel.
My recent stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston was nothing short of exceptional. The property itself delivers everything you expect from the Ritz comfort, elegance, and a standard of hospitality that’s in a league of its own but what truly elevated my experience was the outstanding service from Ouijdane in the Communications Department. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine dedication to ensuring a seamless stay were remarkable. She anticipated needs before I even voiced them, handled every request with grace and efficiency, and made me feel like more than a guest she made me feel valued. People like her are the reason luxury brands maintain their reputation, and she embodies the Ritz-Carlton gold standard perfectly. If you’re considering a stay in Boston, this hotel is a guaranteed five-star experience. And if you have the privilege of interacting with Ouijdane, expect excellence at every step.
Beautiful hotel. Well maintained. They took very good care of me. Shoes shined and returned in less than 30 minutes. Room service was fast and delicious. All the things you’ve come to expect from the Ritz. The upgraded suite was pretty big for Boston standards. The one complaint was the Equinox that’s attached to the hotel is trash. Too small. Not well kept. Only ended up going there once my whole stay because it was so underwhelming. But I’m not letting that detract from the fantastic hotel.
Last month, my wife and I stayed at the Ritz for our anniversary weekend. We were given a perfect room overlooking the Boston Public Garden on the club level floor. We have stayed here one other time and it was a lot of fun. The staff is very nice and the location is unmatched. We have stayed at many Ritz properties and the offerings they extend for kids are a big plus. Upon checkout, Alberto was able to find a kid’a backpack and stuffed animal for our two year old son. We appreciated this and our son loved it when we came back home. Overall, this is a great property for a weekend getaway that’s proximal to the nicest parts of Boston.
