Recent reviews of The Ritz-Carlton, Boston reveal a mixed experience, primarily hampered by significant cleanliness concerns, particularly regarding room sanitation between guests. Despite consistently high ratings for service, location, and value, several reviewers highlighted issues with outdated design, a sterile atmosphere, and a noticeably corporate feel. However, the hotel also receives praise for exceptional staff interactions and luxurious amenities.

This was a deeply disappointing experience, bringing to light very poor hygiene and cleanliness practices at this hotel. The previous guest in our room had clearly cut (facial?) hair in the bathroom. The hair carpeted the bathroom sink, counters, and floor, and scattered throughout the rest of the room, exposing that surfaces and floors were not cleaned at all between guests. There was also a large wad of hair in the corner of the toilet room, waste left in the toilet, and ‘goop’ on the shower door. We cleaned the room ourselves, but were left questioning what else the Ritz is not cleaning/replacing between guests. Or if gloves are regularly changed while cleaning rooms. This seems to be a systemic issue, as we witnessed other sanitary concerns at the hotel. We were offered an apology and 20k Marriott points following our stay (though our follow-up email went unanswered). For reference, one weekend night here is over 100k points.

A short two-night stay. The busy lobby and greeting were a bit impersonal - for a Ritz-Carlton, I felt that a more personal, warm touch could be provided. The room was large, clean, but again I found it quite sterile in design. The hotel is not by any means bad, and the location is excellent, but it seems very corporate in nature and lacks the true luxury touches that would really make a stay stand out. Stay here, and you will get a consistent quality, but nothing that is really special compared to other luxury hotels, and Ritz-Carlton’s that I have stayed in.

Enjoying our stay. Very good base to visit Boston. Great service great location rooms comfortable. Renovated but still has a bit of a dated feeling. The only drawback. However thoroughly recommend it. If we return to Boston we will surely return to the Ritz. Finishing this review on our last day here. Sunday lunch the 28th. I believe that this place is made by the people that work here. Ryan and Adriatic the concierge. Noel and Melissa at the Avery and so many others. We had a wonderful time. Will definitely return if we are back in Boston.

Extremely welcoming people, the concierge gave us a solid list of restaurants, and Gabriela at the reception desk could not have been any nicer. Very nice spacious rooms. Greatly recommend the Hotel.

My recent stay at The Ritz-Carlton, Boston was nothing short of exceptional. The property itself delivers everything you expect from the Ritz comfort, elegance, and a standard of hospitality that’s in a league of its own but what truly elevated my experience was the outstanding service from Ouijdane in the Communications Department. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine dedication to ensuring a seamless stay were remarkable. She anticipated needs before I even voiced them, handled every request with grace and efficiency, and made me feel like more than a guest she made me feel valued. People like her are the reason luxury brands maintain their reputation, and she embodies the Ritz-Carlton gold standard perfectly. If you’re considering a stay in Boston, this hotel is a guaranteed five-star experience. And if you have the privilege of interacting with Ouijdane, expect excellence at every step.

Beautiful hotel. Well maintained. They took very good care of me. Shoes shined and returned in less than 30 minutes. Room service was fast and delicious. All the things you’ve come to expect from the Ritz. The upgraded suite was pretty big for Boston standards. The one complaint was the Equinox that’s attached to the hotel is trash. Too small. Not well kept. Only ended up going there once my whole stay because it was so underwhelming. But I’m not letting that detract from the fantastic hotel.

Last month, my wife and I stayed at the Ritz for our anniversary weekend. We were given a perfect room overlooking the Boston Public Garden on the club level floor. We have stayed here one other time and it was a lot of fun. The staff is very nice and the location is unmatched. We have stayed at many Ritz properties and the offerings they extend for kids are a big plus. Upon checkout, Alberto was able to find a kid’a backpack and stuffed animal for our two year old son. We appreciated this and our son loved it when we came back home. Overall, this is a great property for a weekend getaway that’s proximal to the nicest parts of Boston.

We celebrated our 44th anniversary with an overnight stay in Boston, and for the third year in a row, The Ritz-Carlton, Boston was our top choice—and once again, it did not disappoint. April is such a lovely time to visit the city: the flowering trees and spring bulbs are in full bloom, and the location is ideal for walking through Boston Common, the Theatre District, Newbury Street, and the Copley area. Important to note they are also located close by to the North End and Seaport District (so much to do and see!). The hotel itself is steeped in history, with beautifully appointed rooms and an atmosphere of timeless elegance. From arrival to check-in, to the Club Lounge, Artisan Bistro, Avery Bar, and even the Equinox Fitness Center, the Ladies and Gentlemen of The Ritz-Carlton Boston go above and beyond to make your stay exceptional. A heartfelt thank you to Mr. William Bunce and the entire team for making our anniversary so memorable. Your personal touch—especially the beautiful note and thoughtful welcome amenity—truly made us feel special. We’re already looking forward to next year!

We had a fantastic experience at this hotel, while visiting for almost a week. I'd like to call out specifically Brian Peatfield, the front desk manager, and Ryan McDonnell, the concierge. Each of them consistently went out of their way to behave in a fashion that made the trip ever so much more memorable. Kudos to the hotel and to the staff as well!!!

Fantastic hotel experience for Boston Marathon weekend. My family had booked the Hilton Park Plaza nearby but was unable to get a room as the staff couldn’t seem to clean the rooms for many runners preparing for marathon weekend. We booked the Ritz-Carlton last minute and they couldn’t have done Marriott more proud. The check in process was flawless, the baby’s crib was up in the room within minutes, and the room was immaculate. Huge kudos for the amazing marathon reception for runners returning to the hotel post race. There were cowbells and champagne for all returning runners. Thank you to the Ritz-Carlton staff for putting on a truly great service for their guests this past weekend when stress levels are high in anticipation of the Marathon. ?
