Recent reviews at the Crowne Plaza Boston Woburn reveal a mixed experience, with significant concerns regarding staff behavior and billing issues. While some guests praise the staff’s friendliness and the hotel’s location and value, others report unsettling interactions with housekeeping staff, confusing renovations, and difficulties resolving billing discrepancies.
Please beware that they allow their housekeeping managers to just open your hotel room door starting at 8am. I was a guest here with my fiancé and the housekeeping manager Veronica, opened the door as she was unclothed. I was told they didn’t have do not disturb signs available at front desk. I went down to the front desk to speak to them and they accused me of being under the influence, which was untrue. We were discriminated against for having tattoos and piercings. The front desk manager Meghan was very rude and treated me and my fiancé like we did something wrong. They didn’t even deny the fact that they allow the housekeeping managers to just walk in. So please be aware of this situation. Police report has been filed and we will be pursuing the matter with a lawyer.
Whatever you do avoid this hotel at all costs! I’m not one to write a review but my experience has been so bad I feel obliged to try and help anyone else from having to deal with this hotel. If you’re just looking for a place to sleep you’ll probably be fine (if the front desk computers work). That was the first issue was the computers were down and no one knew how to fix it. A line of people waiting to check in. No big deal. I check in and get to the room after an hour wait. There was renovations that were underway so it was like a maze to get to where you need to go. You had to drive to the back of the building and take the stairs to the room assigned. I call the front desk to find out where the pool is because every website advertises that this hotel has a heated pool and my son’s birthday wish was to go swimming. No answer from the front desk. I tried 4x. I call the hotel number and leads me to a person that couldn’t tell me where the pool was located and told me to go to the front desk. I drive back to the front to ask and the woman at the front desk tells me the pool and gym are closed. I asked for a refund and she said no problem call booking.com and you will get a refund. Booking.com says the hotel has to release the funds. I then ask for a manager and was told no manager now call tomorrow and talk to Meghan. I just called and magically Meghan worked overnight and a manager wont be there until tomorrow unless I want to talk to the restaurant manager. The way this hotel operates is a nightmare. I would strongly suggest booking elsewhere.
In August 2024, I stayed at this hotel for 10 days (8/31–9/10) during one of the most traumatic periods of my life. My husband was admitted to Massachusetts General Hospital after cardiac arrest and a stroke and was awaiting a double lung transplant and a transfer to U-Penn in Philadelphia. I was alone, away from home, and not here for business or leisure. During that stay, the Crown Plaza and Scoreboards restaurant staff were exceptional. They learned my situation, asked about my husband daily, and showed genuine concern. They became my temporary family when I desperately needed one, and it made an enormous difference. Fast forward a year: my husband received the transplant he needed and made a full recovery. I wanted to bring him back to see where I spent those 10 difficult days, so we checked in again on 12/27/25. Check-in was handled by a front desk associate named Meamie (forgive the spelling). She was a lovely oriental lady. I had called ahead to request the same room, and while it was already taken, she remembered speaking with me earlier. The room was clean and comfortable, and dinner at Scoreboards was excellent; our server even remembered me and congratulated my husband, which deeply touched us. Breakfast the next morning was also very good. Unfortunately, the stay ended on a disappointing note. Before checkout, I walked to the desk and personally asked the same associate (Meamie) for a one-hour extension (checkout is 11:00). She checked the computer and confirmed that it was fine. We left the lobby at 11:45, dropped the keys in the box, and departed without incident. A week later, I discovered an additional charge on my credit card. When I called, I was asked, “Who authorized your late checkout?” I provided the full context, including the in-person confirmation, and I have now followed up twice with no response. The experience has overshadowed what had otherwise been a very meaningful return visit. My advice to future guests: if you request a late checkout here, get written confirmation—otherwise you may be charged for it. It saddens me to say this after how extraordinary my first stay was, but the lack of accountability and follow-through has left me disheartened. I had no trouble with anything, the only thing that stopped me from having a better experience was them remodeling the lobby. Which isn't anyone's fault at all, it was just crap timing on my end. The only thing was when i booked the room, the photos online showcased a room that was bigger than the one i got, and online it said it would have both a microwave and mini fridge. It did have the fridge and a coffee maker area however no microwave. They are clean, super sweet staff, and i felt safe parking my car there. Security was active and the hallways were usually quiet. I want to make sure I give one employee recognition by name because she was truly amazing. Destiney checked me in when i arrived and she was beyond friendly. I felt so welcomed and since it was my first time in MA, it was extremely appriciated, so thank you! I will be staying here again. ? ??
I had a great stay at the Crowne Plaza Hotel. It was comfortable, convenient, and felt very safe, especially as someone staying alone for the night. I didn’t eat at the restaurant, but I ordered takeout and it was easy and convenient. The staff were incredibly friendly and chatty, which made the whole experience feel welcoming. The only downside was that the rooms can be a bit far from the elevators, but it wouldn’t stop me from staying again. It’s also perfectly located near shopping and close to Boston, which made getting around super easy. I’d definitely stay here again!
We had a great experience at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Boston. The price was very reasonable, and the hotel itself is beautiful, well-maintained, and extremely clean. The room was very well organized and spotless, which made our stay even more comfortable. The staff was wonderful—friendly, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. The breakfast was excellent, with a very well-served buffet and a great variety of options, which was a lovely way to start the day. Even though we only stayed for one night, it was more than enough to leave a great impression. We would absolutely stay at this hotel again if we return to Boston for another event or decide to plan a different itinerary in the city.
Amazing staff at the Check In Desk, Rob and Mai were so helpful they both went out of the way to make it work perfectly for me and showed Exemplary customer service. Hugs to both of you. The restaurant had really good food that was very flavorful, in good quantity and priced fairly. The room was great but with a common problem of a lot of hotel room the lighting could have been brighter but if that is the only less than perfect I can come up with I will still give it a five star review. Great job everyone.
Fraud. Do not ever stay here. They stole my money. Lied and said I stayed there when they told me my card wouldn't work. Months later and I'm still trying to resolve this issue. Not to mention the issues it caused the day of. It shut down my card because they tried it multiple times and I had to drive far to find a pay in cash hotel. They were terribly rude when I tried to resolve the issue. I want my money back. I did NOT STAY at your hotel. Sick.
I don't know why this would be rated only a 3 star hotel. They did everything well and their rooms are clean and spacious. My only complaint was the noise from the room ac unit but really, the prices are reasonable and plenty of parking as well as access to the road. Recommended!
Good value at $122+ tax including breakfast in May We had a room on the 4th floor overlooking the river and woods. Lovely room but the central HVAC was right on top our room. The bathroom exhaust fan was noisy and running all the time Rooms are large and clean The bed mattress was comfortable but squeaky Breakfast was hot and good quality Overall a great deal for the kind of money you pay
