The Courtyard by Marriott Boston Brookline offers a convenient location in Coolidge Corner, providing access to local restaurants and shops. However, recent reviews highlight a mix of positive experiences – particularly regarding staff friendliness and location – alongside significant concerns about dated facilities, cleanliness issues, and operational problems like elevator outages and slow service. The property currently appears to be undergoing renovations which negatively impacted guest experiences.
The location in Coolidge Corner is great and the service is solid. However, the hotel is dated and could use several improvements. The bathroom in our room (#505) was small and so was the bathtub. The Internet and one of the elevators were out of service all weekend. The pillows in the beds were small and funky. They were not up to Bonvoy’s standards. The water in the pool was cold.
This place is absolutely horrible for the price!!! The employees are very rude and could care less that there is construction going on at 7am in the morning. Make sure you realize that breakfast is not included and the $50 per day parking is shared with the rest of the city, and you might not get a spot, even though you pay for it. The rooms are very outdated, and not worth the price. Did I mention the staff were rude? When i checked out, I had to wait at the desk for 10 minutes because the rude female worker was eating her breakfast while I and a seperate guest were waiting. When i told her our stay was subpar, she actually tried to argue with me about it. Truly a horrible experience. Marriott should definitely check in on this establishment. They do not hold up to the brand quality.
My stay at the Brookline Courtyard in Coolidge Corner was excellent. I loved my spacious junior suite overlooking Webster Street, and the bay window brought in beautiful light and made the room feel like a true home away from home. Sean and Gracie at the front desk were professional, friendly, and incredibly helpful throughout my stay. The location is unbeatable! Coolidge Corner is my favorite Boston neighborhood, with plenty of great restaurants nearby, plus the convenience of the hotel café and complimentary breakfast is a convenient option that I also took advantage of twice during my stay. This was my second visit in six months, and I can’t recommend it enough.
Ladies' room out of order in the lobby, for two days, so far. Men's being used as unisex. Fine. No paper towels in the men's room for two days as well, both dispensers empty. This is unrelated to the construction for the new front desk.
They are currently renovating so not recommended at this moment as it is noisy and lots of workers moving about. We had cleaning services knocking on our door but she couldn't speak any English. Had to call front desk! Got to wonder how they vet their staff if client facing staff need no English proficiency. Trying to complain on the Bonvoy app also didn't work. And the aircon was noisy.
I travel a lot for business and stay strictly at Marriott’s. I can’t believe I’ve just found this gem! The location is great, parking so convenient for a city location but the people… well they make this whole establishment so special!!! Coming in late and needing a quick bite, I got the MOST incredible treatment! Jacquelyn was not only the most inviting wonderful person serving and bartending but then the chef Osama made this incredible rice bowl that would normally be standard for a large chain but he was so proud to say he makes his food with love and there was no debating, it was next level!!! I couldn’t wait to get back the next night for dinner! These two made a weary traveler feel SO welcome and went the extra mile for not only me but everyone I saw leave with big smiles. Seriously this was the absolute best and I can’t wait to come back!!! Everyone should get a big shout out when people take excellence to the next level!!!
Would strongly suggest NOT staying at this property. We were beyond disappointed. Hotel is run down, dirty, and has absolutely no customer service. Guest room was dirty and dingy. Smelled so much of smoke that my eyes were watering. Called front desk and their solution was to send someone up with air freshener. How pathetic and unacceptable! Also, thermostat didn't work and was blowing cold air throughout the room during a cold winter night. Expressed this to management. They didn't seem to care -- offered points for the inconvenience. No thanks -- this experience will keep me away from Marriott. Should have gone just a bit further and stayed at the Hilton. They understand customer service and know cleanliness can't be compromised.
This was unfortunately a stay that left much to be desired. The room, which we expected to be a bit dark and gloomy per other reviews, exceeded our negative expectations. Every single surface, from the bedsheets, to the shower floor, to the desk etc. was completely unclean. It was evident that no cleaning had been attempted: we found hair, dust, and stains almost everywhere, leading us to request a different room that was nearly as unclean. Overall would not recommend to those seeking a clean, comfortable stay, and will not be coming back. To top it off, we had a family emergency that necessitated an early exit, and Jason, the Airbnb host (a slimy broker of some sort?) was unwilling to comp even a single night out of a three day stay. The Marriott front desk said they would have comped the last night as per their policy, but slimy Jason decided that was unnecessary, probably since it cut into his commission (slimy). Avoid at all costs, especially booking through Airbnb.
Not sure but the lift always out of order. At one night both the elevators were out so I had to climb 8 floors to my room at night and down in the morning. Not so convenient if you are checking out Location wise is great so close to tram, restaurants and shops.
The main advantage of this hotel is the location: shops, restaurants, and public transportation. The hotel itself is gloomy, the service inadequate, and the breakfast poor, low quality, yet rather expensive. The “avocado toast, as an example, is really just two slices of bread, with a thin layer of commercial guacamole, which has very little avocado in it, yet the total price, with the tax and tip, ends up being close to $20. The rooms are very dark. Natural light is poor, and the lighting consists of a couple of bed lights and you find yourself using the phone to find things in your suitcase. Service was extremely slow. We had no soap in the shower. It took an hour and a half, and a couple of reminders to get the liquid soap up to our room in the morning, while e were waiting to take a shower. We then found out that the shampoo and conditioner containers are also empty, and we just didn’t bother to notify them about it. The bed sheet was also laid inside-out. We asked for it to be replaced only to hear in length about their policy of replacing the sheets only every three days (but they did replace it in the end). Not clear how this happens, and why there is a need to negotiate to get it right.
