Recent reviews of the Courtyard Boston Norwood/Canton reveal a concerning pattern of issues, ranging from significant security breaches related to credit card information to unsettling cleanliness problems and frustrating customer service experiences. While some guests praise the staff and amenities, a substantial number report problems with parking fees, room conditions, and overall service quality.
I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott Boston from August 17–18. Upon checking in, I provided the front desk representative with my credit card and driver’s license, as is standard when checking into a hotel. After providing my credit card, I briefly stepped away to use the restroom after traveling a considerable distance. When I returned, we proceeded with completing the check-in process. The front desk representative, whose name I do not recall but whom I can describe as a light-skinned woman with braids and/or dreadlocks, instructed me to insert my credit card to pay the hotel deposit. I had to ask them how much the deposit was, as this information had not been explained to me beforehand. Since checking out on August 18, there have been attempted unauthorized purchases on my credit card. Given the timing of these attempts and the fact that I had provided my card to the hotel during check-in, I am extremely concerned that my credit card information may have been compromised during my stay. This situation is highly unacceptable and very concerning. I have stayed at Courtyard by Marriott numerous times and have never experienced an issue like this before. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and investigated promptly, including reviewing the circumstances surrounding my check-in and any relevant security footage or employee access to guest payment information. I also strongly encourage Marriott to review its procedures for handling guests’ credit card information and ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to prevent similar incidents from occurring to other guests. Please provide me with an update regarding this matter and let me know what steps will be taken to investigate and address my concerns.
Charged me for parking when I didn’t even park a car! They just automatically charge everyone for parking even if you uber. I didn’t even come the first day of my booking and they still charged me for the parking that day. And now I’m having trouble getting the charge removed. Emailed the address they sent the bill from and the email bounced. Unbelievable.
I recently stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Norwood and had a very disappointing experience. I am a frequent guest for the property and this was the first and only BAD experience - Check-in was poorly handled, with no recognition of my Marriott Bonvoy Premier status, an inadequately trained front desk associate, and an unprofessional response from management when concerns were raised. The room also had maintenance issues, including a malfunctioning refrigerator. In addition, I was charged for parking despite not being charged during a recent stay, and no clear explanation was provided. Overall, the stay was marked by poor service, room issues, and inconsistent parking policies. I would not recommend this property.
I had a fantastic stay! The staff was incredibly friendly and the amenities were top-notch, especially the pool area. I can't wait to come back and enjoy the breakfast buffet again!
Quick one night business stay, but truly enjoyable. Clean, updated hotel lobby with new outdoor furniture and gym equipment. Hotel smelled fantastic! David, General Manager, really cares. He took time to talk with us and very pleasant in the morning when most GM’s are just too busy. Hats off to Zuri who made us fun drinks at night and Bree at front desk who checked us in with a smile. Thank you to all, keep up the good work.
Room was very nice, lobby was comfortable and a decent location. Other Courtyards off a small breakfast and free coffee. This service is provided by Starbucks at top-tier prices. And this is the first time outside of a center-city environment that I had to pay for parking. There are better options.
Staying here during the winter storm. The GM has been very accommodating and very nice guy. I would definitely recommend staying here it has been recently updated as well
I am extremely disappointed with the treatment I received at this Marriott property, particularly from Assistant General Manager Chevoni (Chev) Ormsby Johnson. Before I even reached the reception desk, her demeanor was dismissive and unwelcoming. She repeatedly insisted she could not assist me and told me I needed to print documents elsewhere because the business center was closed. As an out-of-town guest with nowhere else to go at that hour, I calmly explained my situation and asked for help. Rather than attempting any solution, she denied assistance outright and continued to speak to me in a rude and condescending manner. At one point, she abruptly grabbed my ID from my hand in a way that felt aggressive and demeaning, as if I were being treated like a criminal rather than a paying guest. I have stayed at many Marriott properties—often higher-tier locations—and have never experienced this level of hostility or lack of hospitality. When I asked for her name, she stated it and pointed to her badge in a confrontational manner rather than de-escalating the situation or offering professional service. Ultimately, I was forced to return to my car to find an alternative solution and remembered I had Bonvoy points. I redeemed points for a free night. something that should have been a straightforward, respectful interaction from the start. Even during check-in, she continued making unnecessary comments, including stating she would place me “far on the other side,” which felt punitive and unprofessional.
One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. Absolutely unacceptable. We stayed here over Christmas 2023 and were forced to change rooms four times due to serious health and cleanliness issues. Two different rooms on two different floors had cigarette smoke pouring into the room through the vents, making them uninhabitable. At one point we were moved into a room with a couch that was soaked in urine. The pee smell was unmistakable throughout the room and was coming from the couch. At that point, after already moving multiple times, we asked if the couch could simply be replaced instead of uprooting us again. The front desk attendant flatly refused and forced yet another room change. When we tried to move the urine-soaked couch out ourselves because we were exhausted and no one would help, the same staff member threatened to call the police on us. In the final room, the cigarette smoke issue still persisted, but we gave up and slept with the windows open in freezing winter temperatures because we could not handle moving yet again. The staff throughout this ordeal were hostile, dismissive, and showed zero concern. This felt like staying in a run-down roadside motel, not a Marriott hotel. This property should be investigated by the health department. Between the urine-soaked furniture, pervasive cigarette smoke, and staff behavior, this was disgraceful. Management should be ashamed. I would strongly advise avoiding this hotel.
I arrive and pull my bags out of the car to check in. Interestingly there were only a few cars in the parking lot. When I get to the front desk, the agent seemed seriously bothered that there was somebody trying to check in. Interestingly, I get put at the farthest spot away from the front door possible. Not sure why considering there were few cars in the parking lot. Nonetheless, no explanation provided… So I walk down a long, dead hallway to my room. I get to my room and it smells like cat pee. The stench suggests no one has been in this room for a long time. Everything I touch in my room is dirty including the drinking glasses that I was hoping to use. They were filthy with lipstick, grease and God knows what else. I pick up the ice bucket and there is some sort of funky grease inside the lid. There’s also dried toothpaste on the lid. See attached pictures. I reported this to the same agent at the front desk. No reply other than that she was going to “report it.” Not, “how can I make it better for you?” or “would you like to switch rooms?” Instead I got an arrogant, bothered attitude. How can Marriott put their name on service like this? Word to the wise: stay away from this hotel.
