La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Boston Somerville offers a convenient location near Assembly Row and the Orange Line, providing easy access to Boston. However, reviews indicate the property is aging and experiencing inconsistent quality, with some guests reporting cleanliness issues and staff concerns.
This hotel was in Somerville, great location because Assembly Mall was walking distance so were other restaurants to dine in as well. Front desk service was so good, the room was decent and I didn't get a chance to have breakfast but it seemed they didn't have the standard cereal and granola bar.
We stayed for one night while travelling through New England. Room was clean and breakfast was decent. The location is very good, a short walk away from a Trader Joe's, stores and restaurants from Assembly Row, and the T station to get downtown in about 15 minutes. The first part of this walk is on a quiet street, on the back side of big stores, but it felt safe walking there. I have been charged 10$ for parking which is reasonable but I don't remember reading this when I booked. Overall, great value.
We recently stayed at La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Boston Somerville and overall had a good experience. When we arrived, we were welcomed by Krissi, a lovely and professional girl who made the check-in very easy and pleasant. She was helpful and kind, which gave us a great first impression. The room was good, a bit old but tidy and clean, which is what matters most. The hotel itself was comfortable and we felt fine during our stay. Breakfast was a little disappointing for us, mainly because we are Europeans and the typical American breakfast is not really what we are used to, but everything was still okay. The only real downside was the shower, where the water kept switching between warm and cold, which wasn’t very comfortable. Overall, a positive stay thanks to the staff, especially Krissi.
This hotel is operated by the Wyndham but privately owned. Since switching owners sometime soon, customer service has gone from great to. They don’t even know what the word customer service means. numerous things that should be mentioned at check-in like incidental charge or parking fees most hotels let you know this hotel does not let you know it instead lets you get charged and you have to call to find out what it is. I tried to check in today because of a storm and I had a prior authorization form, which is what the hotel used last year just a few short months ago when using a card that was not my own I was given a card to use as a gift and for terms of safety and got told oh we no longer accept this you were supposed to get a form online to fill out when I checked in with the different card online. When I mentioned that I never got it, but this was the form on file used just a few short months ago, they said oh there’s nothing we can do. I’m sure you have plenty of other cards you could use to check in give us another car. I said we do not have any other cards. This is the card that we provided. They then asked well what are you going to do and I responded with well if you’re unable to help me then obviously I have to cancel and travel in this blizzard because you’re refusing to help. The state of the rooms has also gone hell lot of the rooms are never fully cleaned. They have loose outlets, loose, faucets, and structures and just overall very dirty. This hotel used to be run to provide 5 star service now it is zero stars. If I could give negative stars I would. On a sidenote, I achieved top-tier status with Wyndham rewards company and they out of nowhere just dropped me down from top tier 2 lowest tier claiming oh well if you wanna remain top-tier give us thousands of dollars and we’ll reinstate you As top tier.
This stay was SO much better than my previous one and I’m really glad I gave them a second chance! Staff were super friendly (like last time) and the room was really clean and warm. We stayed during the weekend of the reaaalllly cold temps and the start of the snowstorm and the hotel was always warm and cozy. Location is wonderful because it’s so close to everything ! WiFi can be a little trouble but it’s free so don’t bother the staff about it lol
Room was not clean, lots of hair (of all kinds and lengths) in the bathroom and on the towels. Our room door lock stopped working, so be sure to check the door is locked each time you leave (front desk had it fixed quickly). Staff was friendly. The tub drain was clogged up so we had to shower standing in dirty water. There was an old makeup bag on the floor in the left corner of the bed. The walls and surfaces were visibly dirty. It’s not very quiet and the walls were pretty thin, not great for light sleepers. Overall a decent stay for a short trip but bring your own wipes to clean with and maybe your own towels.
Older hotel in need of updating. The beds don’t appear to have been updated since the hotel opened. The location is good for restaurants and shopping. We took an Uber into the theater district which was a short drive and very convenient. We only stayed one night to avoid a late night drive home after a play. The hotel wouldn’t be my choice for a vacation but it was a ok pit stop. The price fits the amenities.
Terrible location, in a light industry area, near to … well, nothing. Hotel is shabby and very run down. Furniture is banged up. Several problems with my room were addressed quickly - the staff was friendly and efficient, across the board —- but the property has really seen better days. Also, I booked a “suite” so that I could visit with a friend.. but found that my “suite” was a standard hotel room with an uncomfortable couch stuffed in a corner. I booked for four nights, but Expedia got me out in two nights, and I moved to a much nicer property. Again. —- all kudos to the staff, but the property is just depressing.
Do not stay here. I have been a loyal La Quinta customer for years and this experience has made me vow to never stay at one again. 3 staff BANGED on our door before our late checkout time, were extremely aggressive and swore at us (our first interaction). Then I was charged $250 (almost double the room price) for a smoke smell that was there when we checked in and some food spilt on the ground but did not cause staining / damage. Manager and corporate contacted and nothing yet. Happy to change this review if my issue is remedied but so far this has been handled abhorrently.
I’m genuinely baffled by this hotel’s 3.6 rating. What we experienced was far from acceptable. The property felt neglected and unsanitary—more like a shelter than a functioning hotel. During our stay, two homeless people were sitting in the lobby, and the overwhelming stench of feces and urine made it nearly impossible to pass through. The entrance itself was stained with urine—unclear whether from a pet or a person. The condition of the hotel is shockingly poor. “Outdated” doesn’t begin to describe it. • The showerhead was rusted • Ceilings showed signs of water damage • Carpets were filthy and lifting from the floor • Furniture was scratched and worn • Lamps were peeling • The toilet seat was discolored and deteriorating For the price we paid ($268 CAD a night) this was a deeply disappointing experience. It’s hard to believe this property is affiliated with Wyndham. It feels like management has completely abandoned any effort to maintain basic standards. I would never stay at a Wyndham property again, nor would I recommend this hotel (more like shelter) to anyone.
