The Arcadian Hotel consistently receives mixed reviews, primarily due to concerns surrounding customer service, misleading fees, and inconsistent room quality. While some guests praise the location, cleanliness, and helpful staff, recurring issues with billing practices, malfunctioning amenities, and uncomfortable rooms are significant drawbacks impacting the overall experience.

I called the hotel in advance to confirm whether my mother could register without a reservation and was assured that she could. However, when she arrived, she was told otherwise. Unfortunately, the staff did not treat her kindly, especially since she does not speak English. They ignored her needs and made no effort to assist her as a guest. This experience was very disappointing. For the prices they charge, I expected much better service and properly trained staff. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone, particularly if you value respectful and accommodating customer service.

I'm not happy with the hotel, their advertising very misleading. The parking was supposed to be free but they charged me 38$ a night, and the charged me extra fees that were not mentioned on the website. I paid extra 83$ and I'm only getting back 12$? Are you kidding me? Maybe you should mention those fees on your website before getting your customers sucked in. The front desk lady wasn't helpful at all, I asked her where the parking was and she started laughing, I told her that I'm not from around the area I don't know where anything is, and she kept laughing. Very unprofessional. The room was tiny, the bathroom was freezing, lighting was dark and the temperature either too cold or too hot. And they were weird sounds all throughout the night I don't know where it was coming from, in the beginning I thought it was dogs barking outside but my room is not even facing outside the window faces inside the hallway which I found very odd. You have no view whatsoever. It was room 283 by the way. Overall horrible experience couldn't sleep at all. Never again!

My first review!! Not a positive one. Upon arrival we were informed of the amenities fee and parking fee, charging for every little thing. The parking fee is outrageous. They are profiting off of brooklines strict parking policy and exploiting their guests. The price you book online will not be the price you pay. We were then told that our room was on the third floor…odd considering our room number was 238, carrying all of our luggage made it a bit difficult to move all over the place lol. The room was either freezing or like a sauna. I tried to change the temperature multiple times to no avail. Every time I lowered it down 4 degrees it would go up 8 degrees. Next, the wifi would simply not work for us. We could not use chromecast nor did anything load when connected to supposed wifi. A manager came up and said she would have maintenance come up in the morning. He comes up at 11:30 as we are getting dressed to leave for brunch. I ask him to come back in 10 minutes when we are gone. We come back around 3:30 and he knocks on the door 5 minutes later to fix the wifi/tv that are not working. I look at him and go “its fine we are good” didnt really want maintenance in the room when we are showering and getting ready for dinner hence why i asked him to come like 3 hours before that. Last, a small gripe, but the side door took around 8 tries to get into the building. The gentleman at the front desk was really accommodating and gave us a refund on the BS amenities fee. He was very sweet. I know he couldnt do much more than that, but it was nice to have some sort of accountability. He should get a raise or hopefully find a business to work at that is more transparent and treats him better because I am sure he faces the brunt of people’s complaints.

I had a reservation scheduled for week of 1.26.2026 and had to cancel due to the severity of the winter storm in Boston. Initially, the hotel was unwilling to cancel my reservation, but eventually made an exception and assured me I would receive a full refund within five days. It is now day seven, and I still have not received my refund. When I attempted to follow up, I experienced some of the worst customer service I’ve ever encountered. I was hung up on five separate times by customer service representatives—each time immediately after mentioning the refund. There was no explanation, no resolution, just repeated hang-ups. I then contacted Marriott, as Sonder is advertised as having some form of partnership with them, and Marriott had absolutely no record or understanding of what I was referring to. What makes this experience especially disappointing is that I have stayed at the Arcadian in Brookline consistently for the past three years without a single issue. Every stay prior to this had been great. However, the moment I requested clarity on my refund, everything became incredibly sketchy and unprofessional. This experience has completely changed my perception of this hotel. I will not be staying here again, and I strongly caution others to be aware of how refunds and customer service issues are handled. Extremely disappointing and unacceptable.

I had a very good short stay. I was in need of a space for a few hours to get ready for an event I was attending in Boston Sunday evening. Dayuse was very convenient in this situation. Upon arrival I was greeted pleasantly, Both ladies at the front were very helpful. Parking was a breeze because it was Sunday. Not sure if they provide parking at the hotel. Once I was checked in which took about 7 mins, the lobby is a space for guest to utilize for meetings and things like such. Trending art deco display and furniture setup in the lobby. There also was a large projector screen playing the football game and there is bar, snack store area too. The lobby was clean. My room was super clean, good size. The room did what it needed to do. My short stay was pleasant, I am glad I was able to experience my short stay at the Arcadian Hotel, very efficient.

Great customer service great room and amenities just bring your own breakfast. You have been warned. Mostly cheese, bread, and muffins with some oatmeal. There is no meat/protein at all. I would love an egg or a waffle. Definitely would stay here again, if I packed breakfast beforehand. You would think they are feeding mice with the overwhelming servings of cheese & bread. Oh and the room can get chilly at night with the “smart” AC doing whatever it wants to in the middle of the night. Went to sleep with it set to 80 and woke up to it on 62? The bathroom is freezing, always. I don’t mind the cold though, it’s easier to breathe. Just small things that could be worse. Thank you for the service and the stay.

We stayed here for two nights and had a wonderful experience. Jen at the front desk truly made our stay special. She was super friendly, attentive, and incredibly helpful with all of our questions. Her service really stood out. Our room was very clean, and the location couldn’t be better. We loved being able to walk to nearby coffee shops, restaurants, and explore the area without needing to drive. The only downside for us as walkers was the entry setup. None of the side doors allow access with a key card, so every time we returned, we had to walk all the way to the main lobby entrance to get back inside. It would be much more convenient if at least one of the side doors could be unlocked with the room key.

The interior is clean and organized with simple and appealing decorations. The staff were very friendly and deserve recognition for their energy and personality. The location was close by the event I was attending and offered free breakfast and access to a gym. The rooms are pretty standard with pre-packaged toiletries, however, the towels were a little rough. I was excited to see that you could cast your streaming services to the TV, but it didnt work which was a bummer. Lastly, while parking is available on site, it's $45 a night which is on top of their $30 facility fee on and taxes which starts to adds up.

Stayed for five nights in November 2025 on a visit to Boston and had a fantastic stay with no complaints. Check in was easy, staff were super helpful. My room was spacious and very comfortable - maybe a little dark as has been mentioned, but not a problem with the available small lighting. Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality - I ate every day and have no complaints whatsoever. Very well located for public transport and for local bars/restaurants. Highly recommended!

I really appreciated this hotel. I am a bit persnickety about hotels was really comfortable here! Note, this property was historically a drive-in motel, which accounts for the unusual layout. It has been enclosed, updated, and modernized. If you prefer waking up to sunrise, book an exterior room. I booked an interior room, had no issues, and slept exceptionally well. The room was quiet, modern, well appointed, and clean. I had complete control over my thermostat too, and it adjusted quickly. The lobby space was huge and bustling throughout the day with a lovely sky light and excellent coffee (free, all day). There were many outlets there, and a variety of seating types so you could work or socialize. I was there for business, and was comfortable working in the lobby before check-in, then in my room at the nice desk. This was a great find for a great deal, with responsive and kind staff. I would recommend it to anyone looking for value in an accessible part of town--the T is literally across the street!
