The Hotel AKA Boston Common consistently receives high praise for its exceptional service, prime location, and stylish accommodations. Guests frequently highlight friendly and accommodating staff members, particularly at the front desk and bar, and the convenience of being within walking distance of major attractions. While some reviews mention minor maintenance issues or noise concerns, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.

Excellent location. Walking distance from walking tours and museums. Excellent service. Khadija went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and provided extra supplies every day of the entire week of our stay. And Chris is seriously the most efficient maintenance guy ever. Thanks for making our stay so comfortable. We'll see you soon again ??

James (Front Desk Agent) and Adam (Waiter/Bartender) truly went above and beyond during what could have been a very stressful experience after my flight was canceled due to the winter storm in Boston. James was incredibly personable, helpful, and reassuring from the moment I arrived! His calm attitude and genuine care made the entire check-in and reservation process seamless and stress-free. Adam was just as exceptional; his waiter skills were top-tier, his drinks were expertly made, and his accommodating, friendly personality made the experience even better. He was attentive without being overbearing and made sure everything was perfect. Together, James and Adam turned an unexpected travel disruption into a genuinely pleasant and memorable stay. Outstanding service all around.

We had an incredible stay at hotel aka. The location is super convenient, close to all major attractions, the park and great restaurants. Nate and Daniel and all of the staff took incredible care of us during our stay. Plus they had an incredible tea (Palais de The- my absolute favorite tea brand) and coffee selection. We highly recommend!

The location of this hotel is what makes it amazing. 15 minute walk to the North End, a stroll through the Commons to get to BackBay, its literally in the middle of everything. The rooms are small but well decorated and smartly set up. There was a touch of confusion on getting into our room, but it was fine and the staff presented us with a gift for our grief. But where this hotel really shines is the staff. Nabil the Bell Hop was great, very accommodating. Our Breakfast waiter, Binod was amazing. He played bartender and waiter and could still make a mean Bloody Mary. At night, Rebecca was behind the main bar. Absolutely fantastic bartender. Not only would she make GREAT drinks but she single handedly kept us entertained all night, every night of our stay. She has excellent knowledge of the booze behind the bar and has no problem putting our recommendations for a cocktail. Any hotel is made or broken by the staff, and the AKA staff is what makes them one of the best in Boston. 10/10 stay.

The hotel itself was really nice and in a great location. While there were a few hiccups during my stay, the staff was incredibly kind and genuinely worked hard to make things right. I really appreciated their efforts and professionalism. Special shout-out to Max, Sherley, and Nate for going above and beyond. Their customer service made a big difference and turned the experience into a positive one overall.

My son and I spent NYE in Boston and we had the best experience. AKA is centrally located so everything feels close by. Our room was spacious and we had the best sleep during our stay. The service was great, but what made it exceptional was coming back one night when Rebecca was closing the restaurant bar and stayed to serve us and talk about our shared love for baseball and Boston. We can’t wait to come back and experience the same magic again.

This is my choice hotel in Boston for a reason. Not only are the rooms well appointed and comfortable as ever, the staff is outstanding. The location is simply perfect. Plenty of options to walk to and near 2 T metro lines. They also have a daily wine hour which is such a treat, especially after traveling! Thank you to all who continue to go above and beyond to make my stay amazing when I’m in town, particularly Oyuki, James, Sherley, and Max! I look forward to seeing you all in the new year.

This is my favorite hotel in Boston. People are super nice and friendly and accommodating. Rebecca at the bar and Peters at the entrances are two especially great to talk with and hospitable folks. They have great energy, the type of friendly faces you enjoy seeing before or after a long day. Rooms are super clean and neat, and the in room nespresso machine is a nice touch. All rooms are quiet too. No loud elevators or sounds keeping you up at night. Location is very central to tons of solid restaurants, as well as shopping and tourist areas. I stay in Boston probably 40 nights a year, and have stayed at maybe 10 places near downtown crossing. Aka is by far my favorite. Great value, hospitable folks, and consistent solid experience every time.

I was surprised about this hotel. I reviewed several places and choose this one based on that. Our room did not meet expectations. Our room was very roughly used, scratches everywhere, walls, floors and even ceiling. Beyond the quality of the room, the toilet handle was broken, the toilet ran all night and the sink was clogged. The bathroom had severe water damage, holes in ceiling, peeling and cracked doors and tub surround. I did mention to front desk that the quality was poor, and was told I could be moved to a smaller room, but the price would be the same, not adjusted. We choose to just stay in our room as we had settled in. When we checked out I mentioned these things again to front desk and was simply told that is for letting us know. Location was great, but quality of hotel was not. Our experience was of a very used and abused room. I would not recommend or book here again.

Best Anniversary Stay Ever ?????????? October 2025 The hotel was very lovely. They were in the heart of Boston, within walking distance to some really key sights, such as Quincy market, Boston Public Market and more. Everything was within a 15 minute walk or T ride to different parts, such as Harvard, MIT and Chinatown. The rooms were very clean. We told them it was our anniversary and asked if they could do anything special for us due to the occasion. They did and put us in a city facing corner room AND gave us a complimentary snack and wine set up before we arrived in the room! They also had a complimentary happy hour between 4-6pm. There was a nor’easter during our stay, so we had to cut our trip short and the hotel staff was very accommodating due to the storm and our changing plans. The staff, especially Nate and James were wonderful to talk to, gave great recommendations, and were just overall very hospitable. For the area, quality of hospitality, cleanliness and attentiveness- I’d give them a ?????????? The only downside was the noise at night, it was a bit loud but expected as we were in the heart of the city. Overall, we’d stay again in a heartbeat. Thanks again Nate and James for making this a special event!
