The DoubleTree by Hilton Boston - Downtown offers a convenient location near the hospital and public transportation, often praised for its friendly staff and helpful service. While some rooms may show signs of age, many guests appreciate the comfortable beds, cleanliness, and excellent amenities, particularly during events like the Boston Marathon. However, some guests have reported issues with dated furniture and noise.
Not a bad spot. Staff was friendly and room was a great size with the pull out couch for our teenager. Only gripes would be Fox News constantly on instead of a local news channel. I asked the waiter at the restaurant if he could change the channel to something more local an he seemed nervous to do that, giving me the controller to do it. Also it seemed the pipes made a clunking noise in the morning when heat would come on.
The room was a bit outdated but the service and location made up for it. We accidentally got an accessible room on 4th floor and the room was really dusty and smelly. We rang the front desk and they swapped the room for us immediately and the second room was much better. They gave us a few vouchers after for Starbucks. The room ran out of hair conditioner and I rang again, house keeping gave us some very fast too. Location was so handy. Love it!
Stayed here ahead of a large snowstorm in January. Booked deluxe king room with courtyard view. The room was very spacious. Had a very quiet room at the end of the hallway. There was a large mini fridge and microwave as well as keurig machine. Was given warm cookies on check in. Only issue was the elevators were all out of service but one was fixed by next day and my husband needed special accommodations to get up but they offerred their employee elevator if needed.
We booked a few nights here toward the end of last year and everything was fantastic! Jess at the front desk was incredibly helpful and informative. As a Gold member, he also made sure I received all of my available benefits. The room was cozy and clean. We had no issues with cleanliness or Wi-Fi throughout our stay. Overall, it was a great experience and we really enjoyed our time here.
On January 24th, 2026, prior to the incoming blizzard, I attempted to book a room for my hospital shift the following day. I was told by the receptionist that a two-day minimum had been enforced due to high demand before the storm. When I explained that I work directly across the road, she dismissively told me that there were “many other hotels” I could book. This response was blatantly rude and completely unprofessional. This hotel profits from its proximity to the hospital, yet shows no respect or consideration for healthcare workers simply trying to get to work during dangerous conditions. This is not how you treat your most loyal customer base, and it reflects poorly on the hotel’s values and management.
The room was clean with no bad smells, but the furniture is very outdated. The heater fan made a loud rattling noise, so it was either freeze all night or listen to the noise. A service technician came, checked it, said nothing could be done and told me most of the rooms were like that . In the morning, my wife went downstairs to buy water and was told she did not look like she stays here until she showed my Hilton app with the room key. Very unprofessional. Definitely not 4-star quality — felt more like a budget motel for the price.
The Doubletree is my home-away when I'm in Boston, and I couldn't recommend it more, especially for business travelers. The service is wonderful, from the front desk staff, to the cleaning staff, to the bartenders - some of whom I consider friends with at this point. No, it is not the most glamorous hotel, but it's exceptionally clean, whisper quiet in the rooms, and everything works exactly as it should. The management here clearly cares - this is exactly how a hotel should be run, which is becoming increasingly rare these days. A big thanks to the Doubletree and its staff for your endlessly reliable hospitality.
Lovely greeting by the reception staff. Felt safe here and the room was clean and spacious. Good location to get around..10 mins from Boston common, the tube station was across the road. There’s a Starbucks on site, restaurant and bar were lovely. It was quite noisy at night with sirens etc from the medical center, but with ear plugs, it was fine. Would stay here again.
This Hotel is conveniently located right across from the Tufts Hospital Emergency Department. When choosing a room, make sure you know which side of the building you are considering because you will either want to pick a room that is opposite the ambulance entrance, or bring ear plugs for sleeping. The valet parking is convenient, but the hotel daily rate is pretty high. It was $68 per day at the time of this review. The restaurant in the hotel serves a nice selection of local fare as well as some comfort classics like a burger. They have a full bar and friendly staff to serve you. Overall, the hotel is clean and appeared well maintained. I was even impressed by the quality of the tap water. I'm not sure about the rest of Boston, but you can definitely drink the water in your room. I know this is a weird thing to review, but IYKYK.
I read a bunch of bad reviews on my way to this hotel ( after making the reservation!)so I was nervous but I was pleasantly surprised. Our room was spacious enough and very clean with a comfy bed. The bar was well stocked and the bar tender was great. Friendly and efficient and great personality. Cares about his craft. The front desk staff was helpful about finding us a bike path nearby and offered restaurant suggestions. Would definitely return. The location was great too. Right by the T and lots of restaurants.
