This Holiday Inn Boston - Cambridge Area is highly regarded for its exceptional family amenities like the rock climbing wall and basketball court, alongside convenient access to public transit. However, guests frequently report operational inconsistencies, including car park overcharging and an intermittent restaurant schedule, alongside some issues regarding room cleanliness and dated facilities.
Everything about our stay during the blizzard of 2026 was fine. The staff was very pleasant and upbeat despite the stressful conditions. They should really change their website and print marketing to reflect that the restaurant is not actually open 7 days a week. We were kind of scrambling for food options due to this misinformation.
The hotel staff are professionals at keeping the rooms tidy and prepared. Customer service at front desk is wonderful. Breakfast is excellent. I enjoy my stay every time I come here. Great service and amenities. Thank you.
I travel for work almost twice a month and have stayed in multiple hotels across the country. This was a fun trip for my son but definitely one of the worst hotel experiences I have had and first time in a Holiday Inn. None of the front desk staff ACTUALLY knew basic info on the hotel (such as pool hours). Only one girl knew the answers to any question. The door on the pool was permanently locked and I kept having to get the front desk if I needed to get in. (One of the times I was in the pool and just had to run to my room, came back down to ask to get let back in, and she told me “thats because it is closed”… i said i was just there, she said “oh yea”…. what? ?. Restaurant was never open for dinner like it says online. Only breakfast and the only actual options were eggs, sausage, bacon, dry potatoes, some bread options, some fruit (soggy), cereal and oatmeal. They even asked me what I would like to drink and never brought them over, just brought a check 20 min later and by that time I needed to head out for our time slot at Legoland. I then tried to get the coffee in the lobby and it was empty, and then proceeded to try to brew coffee in my room machine and it never worked. 3 of the lamps in my room were broken which is pretty big considering theres no main light and just lamps. The shower was leaking the whole time and never had hot water, i was taking cold showers. the toilet doesnt even flush all the way. The bathroom door wouldnt even close. And the door to my actual room wouldnt close all th way unless you pull it super tight, we found out because a lady had walked right into the room. There was a piece of metal sticking out the side of the bed. Only one elevator working for the whole building. Gym literally has 3 machines and dumbells. I had lost a room key and called to ask for a replacement and he told me to come downstairs (you cant use the elevator without a room key) I told him… “dont i need a key to get downstairs?” he said “yes” …. okay sooooooo. I then proceeded to say well can i take the stairs, he said “we dont have stairs”….. okay sooooooo. Finally he said “i can TRY to bring it upstairs for you” …..okay….. ? Like everything gave clueless. On a good note, the pool area was great for my son and he had so much fun. He also like the extra cot they supplied for him because he’s a “big boy and can sleep by himself” ? . The location is also great, it is so close to Legoland and has so much within a small distance around it for food, shopping, etc. And overall really clean lobby and room.
The breakfast is worth totally worth purchasing with your room. French toast was great, home fries, oatmeal, fresh fruit. The kids area was so fun. The pool was warm. My kids loved it. Especially for the price!
Location is perfect as our son lives near. Rooms are clean but dated especially the bathrooms and not a fan of carpet. Staff is very nice, it’s not that we have a service concern but the free coffee area always lacks creamer, sweeteners (during our 3 day stay there was no regular sugar or regular creamer). Our first morning, there were no cups so not sure how often it’s restocked. For $15, you get a buffet. The offerings would be free in other hotels. The amount is steep for what is offered and there are no alacart options. If guests have dietary restrictions, not many options. 8th floor also smells like smoke. Again, staff was really nice!
This hotel exceeded all my expectations, starting with the front desk staff, especially Dee, who was incredibly friendly, helpful, and efficient. The facilities were spacious, and I loved the pool area with its game tables, half-basketball court, and a pool larger than those at other hotels. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast included in my rate, served in the restaurant, was delicious. I definitely loved this hotel and hope to return soon.
We stayed 1 night and were very impressed with how unique the pool area was. Normal pool (a bit on the chilly side), but surrounding the pool was a rock climbing wall, a couple basketball shooting machines, a foosball table and a massive projector screen that had a family friendly movie on when we were there. Both my wife and I stay a couple hundred nights per year at hotels and were pleasantly surprised to see this unique area, as we have not seen this anywhere. Definitely would recommend for families with kids, big and small.
I stayed here for a one night weekend vacation, I will not be staying again. The location was great, surrounded by many local buisnesses and public transport, close to downtown Boston. The good things about this hotel don't go much further than that. Upon arrival one of the counter staff ignored guests waiting patiently to check-in, busy staring blankly presumably day dreaming while the other staff member tried their best to take care of everyone. The room we stayed in was somewhat clean, there was hair in the tub, toilet and sink. Some tables and cabinets were sticky or soiled in some spots and clearly untouched by cleaning staff. The carpets and curtains were stained. Our sheets were torn in several spots and in poor condition, though they were cleaned. The heat/ac unit in the room was aggressively loud on its quietest setting. If you have ever slept in a shipyard surrounded by fog horns you can expect a similar experience here, I definitely recommend earplugs. There was no microwave in the room despite it being advertised with one. The continental breakfast was extremely disappointing, especially considering breakfast is not included with many stays and boasts an excessive price for wet eggs and microwave bacon. The breakfast here is sub par compared to every other holiday inn or holiday inn express I've been to. Breakfast was included with our stay however the hotel did attempt to bill me for the breakfast anyway and would have charged it if I had not asked and insured the charge was removed. If you have a booking with breakfast included make sure the charge is removed before checking out. Another thing to remember is parking is not free and not always available, you can expect $20 or more a night for parking. The mbta offers overnight parking less than a mile away for a quarter of the price I highly recommend it. In general I would not recommend staying here unless the price appropriately reflects the quality of the stay.
The sports complex in the Hotel will always make this place a staple. So unique and great for children. The children love it,,, my child turns into a kid in the candy shop with all the difference amenities that cater to kids in the sports complex. She’s wowed by the movie, and loves being a fish in the pool, loves the rock climbing wall, and I am just grateful for in this opportunities for the child to have such a great time on the trip as well.
Before I book my hotel I usually call and verify information about parking. I arrive after feeling assured and sure enough they try to charge me $250 to park . Canceled immediately. Drove about 20 minutes to different holiday in. Much cheaper free parking. The only reason I'm leaving this bad review is because they could have definitely accommodated me especially after it was their mistake not mine. But instead of taking ownership they decided to put all fingers on me and take time out of my day
