The Colonnade Hotel generally receives positive feedback, particularly praising its location, friendly staff, and comfortable rooms. However, some guests have reported issues with high prices, questionable fees, and inconsistent service quality. Recent reviews highlight a strong emphasis on hospitality and convenience but also point to areas needing improvement.
Best place if you're in town near college campuses that are up this way. I come here every time I visit my college-aged kid. When they want to ditch me after dinner, I have a nice bar with great service to go to. Aiden is a superb front desk professional. Thanks, Colonnade! It's my place away from home! :)
Superb location! Beautiful rooms, luxurious bedding, always love staying here and only place I stay when in Boston. The staff is exceptional, very knowledgeable as well as friendly and helpful. Love that I can bring my dog too! The restaurant is superb as well!
Very expensive at $400+ per night after taxes. However, quality was very poor. They wouldn't replenish my towels unless I told them, especially bath towels. Very cheap behavior. You should see what towels are on the floor, which you are taking to clean, and just replace that many at the same time. One of the worst things was the bathtub drain not being wide/whatever enough to keep up with the inflow of water. It starts to build up water and then your legs feel icky because you don't know if that water is clean. The downstairs restaurant is overpriced because they give you some coupons on check-in but you can only use one each time. So if you rack up a $20 bill (price of any of the proper breakfasts), then you can't use 2 coupons to pay it off. Very annoying. I lost 1 coupon this way. The clock was off by several minutes. Location wise I would say is the only good thing as it is close to the convention center and also subway.
Stayed here in September, everything was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was hospitable. Location was perfect for us too. Two things we did not like, we asked where we can get water and was told to go to the gym. Went and did that, when we checked out, we were charged using the gym. If they can check their security cameras, we were just there to get water and out in about 2-3 minutes. Another thing is them not informing us that rooftop is already closed for the season. It is one of the reasons why we booked this hotel.
Just had another wonderful stay at The Colonnade Hotel. The staff was amazing — Aidan, Darin, and Hicham were real standouts who made us feel right at home. The lobby bar was fun and excellent, and the rooms were spotless with comfortable bedding, great pillows, and excellent water pressure. They’ve also upgraded the gym with new equipment and weights, which makes it even better than before. Just a great place to stay while visiting Boston — I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
We had a very pleasant 4-night stay at the Colonnade! The staff were very friendly and attentive. Alexandre was especially helpful upon check out. The rooms are nice and clean, albeit the bathroom was a bit small and the ventilation lacking. The food and drinks at the attached restaurant were good and the room service was speedy. The location is fabulous and there is a train station just steps outside the lobby. We liked that there was convenient covered parking attached to the hotel with the ability to go in-and-out, however the price at $70 night a bit steep. My only comment is that the $30/night “resort fee” is deceptive and doesn’t add any value if you are staying here during the off season when the pool is closed. That being said, our stay was very comfortable and we would definitely choose the Colonnade again for future trips to Boston.
I had a wonderful experience at The Colonnade in Back Bay, Boston. The location is incredible—close to everything yet peaceful and comfortable. What made my stay truly exceptional was the outstanding customer service. Alexander went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. He was professional, accommodating, and extremely helpful throughout my visit. His attention to detail and warm hospitality really set the tone for a memorable stay. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Boston!
Fantastic hotel in great location in backwater Bay area. Close to all amenities, fantastic shopping mall and restaurants. Staff at front desk are amazing. Super helpful and friendly, we felt very welcome and cared for at the hotel from check in til after check out. My daughter left an item in the room after checkout and they were great in helping us retrieve it. The room was spacious and bright and clean, the beds amazingly comfortable. We slept really well here. I would definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to Boston.
This property is one of only a few that has an outdoor pool to enjoy, and I purposely chose it for the pool availability. The rooms were spacious & well maintained. Staff was welcoming when we arrived to check in and at the pool. Food and drink at the pool was a little on the pricey side but it was good. The complimentary coffee/snack spot was an awesome touch! The beds were comfortable but the pillows were the kind that went flat as soon as you put your head on them. The pool is on the small side and could use a deep cleaning, as the liner was stained at the water line. We were out there each morning by 9am & got chairs, but by 9:30, they were all full & people just hovered waiting for someone to leave. There seemed to be a lot of people from the local area who may have purchased a Resort Pass to use the pool for the day, instead of being hotel guests. They also told me that if my room wasn’t ready when we arrived, we would have to pay $55pp to use the pool, which is absurd.
Loved this hotel. Been to Boston 6 times in the past year and decided to stay at The Colonnade this time. We were not disappointed. Everything was more than we expected. The hotel/rooms are very clean and cozy, the housekeeping staff was so friendly, parking was easy, location was fantastic, and the entire staff was so friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be staying here again.
