The Colonnade Hotel consistently receives positive feedback for its excellent location in Back Bay, friendly and helpful staff, and comfortable accommodations. While some reviews mention minor issues like outdated bathrooms and high resort fees, the overall experience is described as positive and memorable, particularly for its pet-friendly policies and convenient access to attractions and transportation.
We stayed at The Colonnade for a week with our ferret Koko, and it has become our favorite hotel in Boston. The location is excellent, so much is within walking distance. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable with beautiful city views. Everyone we interacted with was so friendly, from the doorman, Norman and housekeeping team to the front desk staff. Najoua at the front desk was especially helpful and kind during both check-in and check-out. We also really appreciated how welcoming the hotel was with our ferrets. Before our trip, we had reached out to a few pet-friendly hotels to ask if three ferrets would be allowed, since two of ours needed medication every few hours and we planned to bring them with us. We also let them know our ferrets were very well wee-wee pad trained. The Colonnade was very understanding and said they could all stay with us, which meant a lot. Sadly, two of our ferrets passed away before the trip, but we still really appreciated their kindness and flexibility. The rooftop pool was a nice bonus, especially on hot afternoons. The only downside was that we wished the gym was a little bigger. Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely come back!
I've stayed at many hotels all over the world-Europe, South America and Caribbean to name a few-and it is easily one of the best hotels I have stayed at. Rooms are spacey, great free in room amenities such as , water, tea and coffee everyday. Staff go out of their way to be helpful and super friendly. Although no included breakfast they have a refreshment center that is well packed with sodas, water, coffee, fruit and snacks to help you get by on a light meal. My only recommendation for a flawless stay is to have a microwave available in the refreshment center or nearby.
This is a great hotel located perfectly in Back Bay. We enjoyed 4 nights accommation. The rooms are modern & spacious, the beds are super comfy and the all important tea/coffee making machine makes a decent brew. There is an attractive rooftop pool area with bar which is a nice bonus for those warm & sunny days. The green line subway is situated just a few metres from the front door while the orange line is maybe a 10 mins walk. Overall, this hotel ticked all our boxes and we would certainly stay here again if in Boston.
Great hotel in fall/winter. Not so much in spring/summer due to the poor air-conditioning setup. I set my room at 65 degrees and it never got below 75 degrees. Even the corridors were hot. Fix that and you have a great all-year hotel. Great staff and great food. May become my favorite Boston hotel all year round.
5 star stay over mother’s day weekend! Buffet for Mother’s day offered a huge variety of expertly prepared foods, with cold or hot entrees. Chef’s carving station offered a scrumptious roast. Also enjoyed freshly prepared breakfast every day. Our room was spacious and comfortable, offering a small table for meals or for working if traveling on business. Staff very friendly and helpful. Definitely the best choice for staying in Boston’s Back Bay!
Best place if you're in town near college campuses that are up this way. I come here every time I visit my college-aged kid. When they want to ditch me after dinner, I have a nice bar with great service to go to. Aiden is a superb front desk professional. Thanks, Colonnade! It's my place away from home! :)
Superb location! Beautiful rooms, luxurious bedding, always love staying here and only place I stay when in Boston. The staff is exceptional, very knowledgeable as well as friendly and helpful. Love that I can bring my dog too! The restaurant is superb as well!
Very expensive at $400+ per night after taxes. However, quality was very poor. They wouldn't replenish my towels unless I told them, especially bath towels. Very cheap behavior. You should see what towels are on the floor, which you are taking to clean, and just replace that many at the same time. One of the worst things was the bathtub drain not being wide/whatever enough to keep up with the inflow of water. It starts to build up water and then your legs feel icky because you don't know if that water is clean. The downstairs restaurant is overpriced because they give you some coupons on check-in but you can only use one each time. So if you rack up a $20 bill (price of any of the proper breakfasts), then you can't use 2 coupons to pay it off. Very annoying. I lost 1 coupon this way. The clock was off by several minutes. Location wise I would say is the only good thing as it is close to the convention center and also subway.
Stayed here in September, everything was clean and comfortable. Housekeeping was hospitable. Location was perfect for us too. Two things we did not like, we asked where we can get water and was told to go to the gym. Went and did that, when we checked out, we were charged using the gym. If they can check their security cameras, we were just there to get water and out in about 2-3 minutes. Another thing is them not informing us that rooftop is already closed for the season. It is one of the reasons why we booked this hotel.
Just had another wonderful stay at The Colonnade Hotel. The staff was amazing — Aidan, Darin, and Hicham were real standouts who made us feel right at home. The lobby bar was fun and excellent, and the rooms were spotless with comfortable bedding, great pillows, and excellent water pressure. They’ve also upgraded the gym with new equipment and weights, which makes it even better than before. Just a great place to stay while visiting Boston — I’m already looking forward to my next visit!
