Guests rave about the unbeatable location near Boston Common, the friendly and attentive staff, and the beautiful, clean rooms, but warn about thin walls and slow check-in due to the lobby serving as the bistro. Recent stay reports highlight major concerns regarding unexpected, high incidental deposits and an elevator deficiency for upper floors.
I did not stay here. I hung out at the bar while my friends shopped. Bar is great. Chill, cool but not pretentious. You'd never know the hustle n bustle of Charles Street. Molly the bartender is excellent!
It was a nice, quaint little spot, but a couple things. First, I was charged $450 incidental fee for a room that cost me $350... yes, that was $450 on top of the $350, so basically they held half a grand that I would've much rather spent on shopping in the area. We were not told that it would be that much, we found out rather inconveniently. I asked the front desk about the hold but I was not really given an answer, other than "sometimes that happens" and "using a third party site to book will do that". (Btw, my wife and I travelled to several different hotels in the past week, including a week in the presidential suite in one of Boston's most prestigious hotels; none of them required more than $100/night in holds and explicitly said so before charging us, so I am very bothered by this still.) Second, the walls are paper thin. The hallway on the second floor is loud, like it sounds like a vacuum cleaner is constantly running, all night long. Idk what the sound is. We had to turn the TV on to drown out the sound so we could sleep. Also, at 7:30 am the cleaners are working and so you hear every single little glass clink, dropped item and word muttered during this time. Breakfast was hard boiled eggs and fruit. I think maybe there was a bagel or something else to choose from, but it was very lackluster. Not a big deal tho as we did not even know breakfast was included, so it was welcome regardless. All in all, it was an average stay. The rooms are nice and the neighborhood is nice, and the staff is nice. The noise was irritating and so was the massive incidental hold. But we spent the night walking Beacon Hill, stopping into shops and had a wonderful dinner, thanks to the superb location of Beacon Hill Hotel. While it may not be our first choice, I would consider staying once more, so long as the incidentals are a little less.
We stayed here for two nights. The location is beautiful and close to many great restaurants, which is a big plus. However, I don’t think we’d stay again. This isn’t a full-service hotel, so if you need help with bags or try to reach the front desk, responses can be slow. The check-in area also serves as the hostess stand for the bistro downstairs, which makes things a bit hectic. The hot water in the shower only lasted about 10 seconds before turning cold, and the walls are quite thin. On the bright side, the staff is friendly. Breakfast is complimentary but minimal- coffee, tea, and a few baked goods. For a full breakfast, I’d recommend one of the nearby restaurants. If you’re visiting for the photos or want to explore Beacon Hill, this place is fine for that. But if you’re looking for a comfortable stay, I’d suggest checking out the Hyatt or Marriott hotels nearby.
All Boutique, no luxury. This hotel is in a great location but unfortunately it is not great on service. There is no valet or baggage service. We booked the penthouse not knowing that we would have to travel up three flights of stairs with baggage and a baby. We ended up making multiple trips while juggling a baby. Then had to park the car 3 blocks away. Also the showers gave you 10 seconds of Luke warm water - the sink gave powerful hot water? It seemed to be a nuisance that we had a baby with us especially when we had to travel through the bar to get to our room. The hotel owners need to consider some extra staff to make it a more luxury stay. Recommended for couples traveling alone. We just didn’t know what we were getting ourselves into unfortunately.
I had an incredible stay. The hotel is well-equipped. My room was spotless. The location is perfect with a convenient shuttle service, close to numerous shops and restaurants. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Boston Common area! I will definitely be back!
This place was more than perfect. I stayed there with my husband. The rooms were beautiful, very clean, and they change towels every day. The view of Beacon Hill was wonderful. I will stay there again. This place was more than perfect in every way. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
Excellent decor, staff, food and location. Stayed here 3 nights for a city trip to Boston. Todd, the manager, Joseph and Sariah, hotel employees, were all so very helpful and welcoming during our stay. We felt like part of a family and looked after us in such a warm and welcome way. One block from the Boston Common and park, and a short walk to the Red Line T. Great daily breakfast, rooftop bar and beautifully decorated rooms, lobby, bar and hotel restaurant. Very walkable area with excellent Freedom Trail Walking Tour with Elaina at the Visitor's Center at the Park. Rates can vary greatly during the year so recommend booking early. Highly recommend!
My friends and I were here for their birthday and we had the most amazing evening! Our bartender, Molly, was a rockstar! The drinks were amazing and we had a cheese board that shared well for the three of us. Can’t wait to be back next time we’re in town and hopefully Molly’s around :)
Perfect location. Responsive and helpful staff. Rooms are clean but, very small almost like the rooms in Japanese hotels. Disappointing breakfast with insufficient seats. Price per night is low compared to the other hotels in the area.
Location of this hotel is great, it’s right across from Boston commons and garden. Although the location was great, the room left much to be desired. Our AC did not work properly and it was quite difficult getting to our room without the use of an elevator. The bartender was great!
