Guests consistently praise the Aloft Boston Seaport's modern aesthetic, friendly staff, and unbeatable location near the convention center. However, mixed reviews highlight significant noise issues from the ventilation system, confusion regarding administrative fees (destination fees and parking), and billing discrepancies that sometimes took days to resolve.
I had a wonderful experience staying at this hotel for three nights during a conference. The front desk and cleaning crew were incredibly friendly and efficient. Check-in was a breeze. The hotel was conveniently located directly across from the convention center. They offered breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and there was a restaurant within the hotel itself. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, and the cleaning staff came daily to ensure the rooms stayed spotless. The toilet flusher required some effort to flush the bowl, but it wasn’t a significant inconvenience and the water in the sinks drained quickly. As a precaution, I always check the seams of the mattress for any brown stains that could indicate bed bugs, but I didn’t find any during my stay. Overall, I had a great time at this hotel and would definitely stay here again!
My husband and I enjoyed our room overall. We didn't smell or see any mold as other reviews did. The bed was comfortable. The window blinds do a good job of blocking the light so we could sleep. The location was perfect for us. Unfortunately, the air conditioning is quite loud as others say. It's also programmed to turn on once it gets really hot, so the room gets super hot, then super cold, back and forth and we found it very difficult to sleep. Another problem is that when we checked in for our one night, we were told that we had a $15 voucher for the bar or for breakfast to help with the cost of the $25 destination fee. Unfortunately, that was a lie. I planned to use my voucher for breakfast, but it turns out that it must be used that same day. It does say this in small print at the bottom of the voucher, but we were specifically told we could use it for breakfast, so I didn't realize I needed to read all the small print. I waited a while at the front desk check-in line to order my breakfast and then was told I had to use it the day before (breakfast ends at 11am and check in is at 3pm so that honestly doesn't make sense). I was really disappointed. Why would they even create that policy? I looked it up- it's not a Boston tax- it's totally the hotel. While we're at it, the soap was empty in the shower, the shower drain was stopped up so we showered in a pool, there are no signs for the ice machine, which is only on the third floor, and the latte machine only gave out hot milk (no espresso). If it wasn't for the lie when I checked in, I would have overlooked all these things. I don't even mind the $25 destination fee since I already knew about it. It was the lie and the disappointment. Id rather them just charge the $25 with no perks than to promise something and then be disappointed. Update: The hotel saw the review I left on their platform and made it right. Well done, Marriott.
I've stayed at this hotel a bunch of times for work and it's clean, efficient, easy to get to. Mostly though, the staff is very friendly. This time around, my son stayed over to attend a Celtics game for his birthday and the staff went out of their way to make him feel special with a sweet treat and beverages. A big Thank You to Monique at the front desk, along with her colleagues, who went above and beyond that evening.
Room was clean and sufficed for the night. Hotel did not have any parking available when I arrived and when I asked for other options or recommendations they said “I don’t know you can always try and find parking in the street”. Ultimately I ended up parking my car at the Omni garage. When checking in to my room I was also hit with a 25$ destination fee which then immediately justified by the $15 voucher you get to the snack bar. I tried to use this but there was no one there to check out with so I gave up. Honestly it was fine, everyone was nice but it was lackluster in comparison to the nearby Westin and Hyatt in Seaport.
Comfortable hotel room, well situated in Seaport district, 10 mins walk to lots of nice restaurants and bars at the waterfront. Reception desk provided excellent service when check in and accommodated request for a room change readily and in friendly manner. Room is good size with a bit of novel orientation, bathroom being separated away with a privacy wall between bathroom and bedroom, making it a bit more private and seemingly spacious.
Great location with easy access to Boston Logan and the convention center. The room had large windows, was clean, and the staff were helpful. That said, the stay had several drawbacks. The biggest issue was the “Destination Fee” of almost $30 per night. It was written in very small print and wasn’t clear during booking on Marriott.com. They give you $15/day in property credit, which I used at the lobby store, but it still feels like a surprise charge that should be included in the upfront price. The AC/heater was loud and felt like a budget-hotel unit, not something you expect from a 4-star property. Noise insulation was also weak. I was in a corner room and could still hear hallway noise, doors opening and closing, and knocking throughout the stay. The overall construction of the room felt cheaper than expected. Good location and friendly staff, but the hidden fee, noise issues, and loud AC/heater held the stay back.
Hotel was modern and very clean. The service was good. The price for parking was $54 a night. They don't tell you that if you don't use the valet until after 8:00 pm it is free. We got there at 3, checked in and paid for valet and then didn't return until after 10pm. They did remove the valet charge w/o any issues. There is a $25 resort fee, but they give you back $15 in credit but it had to be used that day.
Fraudulent Charges and Zero Accountability from Marriott! I stayed at the Marriott seaport in Boston over the weekend with my family and booked three rooms. The hotel itself was just okay — nothing special, but the location was fine. However, what happened with the billing was beyond ridiculous and completely unacceptable. The front desk charged my credit card TWICE for every single room. On top of that, one of my family members who arrived before me left his card for what was supposed to be just a “security deposit,” and they went ahead and charged him the entire amount of the stay! How is that even possible at a hotel that’s supposed to be reputable? When I called to fix this, I was told someone would “get back to me in 3–5 business days.” Seriously? You charge my card multiple times without permission and then make me wait up to a week just to hear from someone? That’s absurd. To make matters worse, I was advised to call my credit card company to dispute the charges or to call the hotel directly to see if I can make this go faster — which tells me even the staff knows how bad the system is! This is not just bad service — this is borderline fraud. I can’t believe a major brand like Marriott operates this way. No one has taken responsibility, no one has helped resolve it quickly, and I’m still out a huge amount of money because of their mistake. Be warned: if you stay here, watch your credit card closely, because they clearly can’t handle basic billing properly and don’t care enough to fix it fast! And What they call a “security deposit” might just turn into a full unauthorized charge.
Wow we are glad we stayed here! Location: basically a $10-$13 car ride/lyft/uber from many, “touristy” things (i.e aquarium, Quincy, museums, duck tours). Highly recommend the Museum of Illusions. You can also walk many places in 15 minutes. Rooms: great with very smart layouts to maximize living quarters and bathrooms. Service: Awesome! I include the lobby in this which is filled with a billiards table, shuffle board and foosball table, bar, quick shop, lounge. The staff is VERY friendly and accommodating. There is a woman named Chantá who works there and is so incredible. I would come back to this one hotel just to hope to catch up with her…seriously she’s that charismatic.
This review is really like a 3.5 stars. Like Harvey P stated in his review 2 months ago, the great parts of this hotel don't match the price. That said, everything is highly priced around here. I do have a few things to add. We received unexpected high mandatory rates for daily valet parking - like we have a choice. Then they tagged on daily fees because they feel like it - $25/day and, "if you use our restaurants you can get credit back." You have no option other than to accept this "deal". I've stayed at a lot of hotels and never heard of such a scam. And management please don't respond to this review - you're the scammer. I stay at Marriot 95% of the time, but never this one again. In addition my wifi didn't connect at all, numerous times, and I had to try to figure it out myself as the front desk was not helpful at all. The HDMI Direct Connect also didn't function properly so I could use the TV for my remote work/second PC screen. There is no micro or decent size refrigerator in the rooms. The AC is right at bed height and blows on you directly. I had to put a pair of jeans over it to keep from getting congested - poor design. The other people, who stayed in other rooms, with me also complained about this. We had to keep our room at like 77 degrees to keep it from coming on so much. These are things you expect when you pay large lodging and valet fees. Good points were the room walls keep a quiet atmosphere, the food in some of the restaurants is actually good, and they have the fastest digital elevators I have ever experienced.
