This historic, landmark hotel offers a breathtaking lobby and exceptional service, but guests consistently report that the rooms feel outdated. Recent visitors frequently point to significant maintenance issues and poor soundproofing that detract from the luxury experience.
Great location and good room service. However, there were a few cleanliness issues during our stay. There was a blood stain on the upper section of the comforter, which I only noticed because the beds do not use duvet covers. They didn’t provide a glass of champagne or anything to rectify the situation. There was also a pimple patch stuck to the shower wall and a couple of bobby pins on the bathroom floor that appeared to be left by a previous guest. Housekeeping did replace the comforter promptly after I requested a new one. Another downside was the lack of soundproofing. You can hear almost everything happening in the hallway and stairwell. If you plan to stay here, I would recommend checking your linens when you arrive and requesting a room on the opposite side of the stairwell if possible. The noise made it very difficult to sleep, and we were not able to get a good night’s rest even though we are usually heavy sleepers.
We were taken aback when we entered the prestigious Fairmont Copley Plaza. Wow. The ceilings were incredible. The pup, Cori Copley, was too precious. Checked in with Taylor at the front desk and she was terrific. She would greet me by name each time she saw me later on during our stay. We LOVED staying on the 4th floor with a fireplace in our room! WOWZERS!
We went here for 4 nights over the valentine weekend and stayed on the club floor The hotel is very grand and in a great location The room was well appointed and we made full use of the club lounge for breakfast and evening canapés. Kevin Oliver and Gideon the concierges in the club were very helpful and polite throughout ! Reccomended in Boston The gym was well equipped and had 1 concept2 rowing machine (which needs a service ) but did the job Thank you
Overall happy with our stay. The rooms were clean, although a little outdated. The shower pressure could have been better. The staff however is superb! Friendly and happy at all times.
We booked a room block for our wedding nearby. The bridal suite was beautiful and working with Olivia and Sarah prior was so wonderful. They arranged for hair and makeup chairs in the room before our arrival, champagne and chocolate covered strawberries as well! Having the gold lounge available for snacks was a lovely amenity and we utilized it for breakfast the day after our wedding :-) the beds were extremely comfortable and the staff were all SO kind!
My husband and I were set to get married at a different venue in January of 2026 with a plan to have a luncheon afterwards at the Oak Long Bar in the hotel. Our venue ended up cancelling due to a blizzard. We called the Fairmont Copley Plaza when this happened - and our event manager Denise Haddad stepped up to help us out. She upgraded our hotel room to a suite overlooking the library to have our ceremony in and allowed us to take photos throughout the hotel. The room itself was spotless, beautifully decorated and perfect for hosting a ceremony. From start to finish, Denise and the staff at the Fairmont Copley Plaza were incredibly helpful, going above and beyond to help us out. The hospitality this hotel provided was one of the best we have ever experienced. We cannot wait to book a room with them in the future - probably for our anniversary :)
As a wedding photographer I really enjoyed working at the Fairmont Copley Plaza. First of all, the interiors are perfect for couples looking for a luxurious ballroom with an old-world charm. The Foyer has elegant finishes, large windows, and intricate moldings that give photos a romantic and luxe vibe. The location is great for outdoor pictures since it's within the walking distance from the Boston Public Library (amazing for bridal party shots & portraits) and we also took very pretty photos just walking from the library back to the Plaza. And, of course, the staff is amazing - very organized and accommodating. One of the best venues for a city wedding, hand down!
An old but elegant hotel nestled in the heart of Boston. Rich in history and hospitality but the rooms sure do need upgrading. It’s worn out and needs some love for sure. Best part of the hotel is that it is super dog friendly. Bring Fido! Bar downstairs is warm and inviting serving a small menu but large cocktail list.
Had a mixed experience at the Fairmont Copley in Boston. The original reservation made by phone seemed perfect, as we had some specific needs for this trip and we were traveling with two octogenarians. I was traveling with my father, who walks with a cane, which I expressed while making the reservations . We paid extra to make the trip perfect for my Dad, and reserved a room on the gold floor. We needed to share a suite with him, and reserved a room with what we were told were two bedrooms and a shared bath. When we arrived, however, there was only one king sized bed, a sizable living room, but no extra bed. The suite itself was almost as far away from the elevators as one could be- a very long walk, if you’ve seen the Fairmont Copley, and difficult with a cane. The staff at the hotel in Boston told me there were no rooms in Boston to fit our needs, though the reservations staff “sold” me a room that purportedly did. There was only one bellboy for the entire hotel on the evening we arrived, and we waited for quite some time to receive the bags to our room. We didn’t really need the bags sooner, but I did feel insecure about the whereabouts of my luggage, as I saw luggage carts all over the lobby, within reach of all passersby. Our bags were delivered safely while we were out. This is a disservice to the bellboy, who we did not see and therefore did not tip. We had dinner in the oak room. The space is lovely, and very classy. The hostess was professional and competent and did a great job. The restaurant was short-staffed, however, so we sat at the table for over 27 minutes before even being asked if we wanted drinks. We sat for a very long time before ordering food. Once ordered, the food was well-prepared and brought out by kitchen staff. Trying to pay the bill and get back upstairs to bed took another abnormally long wait. When we finally got the two older members of the party to their beds, (by now almost 10pm) there still was not a bed made up for myself and my husband. We were told there wasn’t one….I applied to the concierge for help. The concierge on the gold floor was Kevin, who was fabulous in every way. He was kind, thoughtful, respectful and cared about our needs. He arranged for an extra bed to be made up for us, albeit very late (They were short-staffed, and so no one could get a bed prepared.) He went out of his way to improve the stay for us all, got the nighttime manager for us and provided refreshments while we waited. People like Kevin are why places like the Fairmont are special. He is an asset. In addition, there was a staff member, Gilbert, who worked on the Gold floor who was so attentive to not only my family group, but to others also. When travelers have had a long day and have little things go wrong, kindness is everything. The stay thereafter was pleasant, the food and service in the gold floor mostly great, the ambience very nice. The lobby area is fabulous. The staff is kind. We declined to eat or have drinks in the oak room again due to the poor service. I have to add that the furniture seemed very shabby for an exclusive space, as the gold floor of the Fairmont claims to be. The couches were worn and fraying on the edges, cushions were in poor shape, curtains and window coverings were tattered around the edges and cables to operate them were broken. It seemed out of place with the amazing lobby with gilt fixtures, painted ceilings and mosaic floors. The understaffing seems to be a huge problem for all aspects of this hotel. Trays, rollaway beds, mess in hallways sits for a long time before removal. Lines waiting for valets, bellhops, checking on and checking out are excessive. Wait times long. Worth the extra high price of a stay on the gold floor? Not really. But the chance to meet a Kevin and Gilbert? Absolutely. Hence, the mixed review and the lengthy explanation.
The main floor of the hotel is beautiful, with many interesting art deco and architectural details. That really is the best part of the actual hotel. The location is also great - situation closely to sightseeing, transportation, restaurants, etc. The room itself left some to be desired. I was surprised how poor of quality the bedding was, given the decor and style of the rest of the hotel. The bed was covered in only flat sheets that fit poorly and were of poor quality fabric that itched and felt irritating. The comforter was almost non existent - very thin and again, covered in a flat sheet. This made actually sleeping and moving around on the bed at all challenging. The bathroom was nicely updated in the room, however, the toilets run and gurgling off and on all day/night. The hotel restaurant's food was very yummy, but incredibly expensive for what it was. The bar service was great - very friendly bar tenders who were kind and accommodating. Theis was really different than the wait staff who were somewhat rude and pushy about how long you could sit an eat, where you could sit, etc. If you order room service instead, it's incredibly expensive as they add multiple "delivery fees" and don't allow you to pick it up to avoid this. Overall, I'm not sure I would stay here again if it was my choice!
