The Boston Marriott Cambridge offers a convenient location near Kendall Square and MIT, with generally positive feedback on service and cleanliness. However, some guests have reported noise issues, ongoing construction, and inconsistent service experiences. Value perceptions appear mixed due to parking costs and a lack of an in-house restaurant.
Amazing location literally steps from the Kendall Sq T stop (Red line). Excellent service. Loved Isiatu at breakfast at the M Club. My only complaint is that the walls are PAPER thin, so any noise in the hallway or other rooms sounds like it’s in your room. I would stay again for the lounge and convenience.
Recently stayed at Boston Marriott Cambridge, and overall the experience was quite disappointing. First, the front desk staff felt rather cold. The same applies to the staff at the lounge area, the service felt distant and not very customer-oriented. Second, the room amenities were below expectations. There was no kettle in the room and no complimentary bottled water provided. The bottled water sold by the hotel was also quite expensive. In addition, there was no accessible drinking water available in the lobby for guests, which is uncommon for hotels at this level. Overall, the hotel gives off a very “cold” feeling, both in terms of service and facilities. It feels like many basic conveniences are simply missing. On top of that, there is ongoing construction around the hotel, which seems to be constant and affects the overall environment and comfort of the stay. In summary, if you value a warm atmosphere and thoughtful amenities, this may not be the best choice.
This is an older hotel, which although is fine, needs updating. The location is great and ask for a room with a river view (better as there is construction on the other side). 4/5 Foyer/ Entry/ Check-in: Unfortunately there are building works in the foyer which decreased the size of the space. The staff were excellent, and check-in was fast and easy. 2/5 Elevators: They are old! Sometimes slow, a few smelled bad all the time, and at times I wasn't sure if I would make it to my floor as the elevator would stop and 'think' (?) to wonder where to go, not very confidence inspiring! 3/5 Rooms: The rooms are old, but are in okay condition, the bed was comfortable. The A/C was very loud (old) and could not be left on at night. The bathroom was small, but functional (also old). The worst was the room noise, corridor noise was very loud, adjacent room noice was clearly heard and the street noise of cars/traffic was also fairly loud. The hotel could really benefit from proper sound-proofing (double-glazed windows, door to corridor seals). 2.5/5 Sleep quality: As noted above. 4/5 Room Service: Fast, delicious and good value. 4/5 Breakfast: This is not a luxury hotel, but the food offerring was nice and tasty. 5/5 Staff: Brilliant, every staff member was so friendly and helpful.
Very clean room, good location with a T line (red) and many easy food options close by. River view was pretty, big floor to ceiling windows facing two directions let in lots of natural light. Motion triggered nightlight in the bathroom is a nice touch. Booked 5 rooms through a block and the checkin process for the group was as smooth as group travel gets.
Stayed here with my family of 5 and found the room quiet, spacious and comfortable. Front desk was excellent. They gave us a card for my son’s birthday and offered him a free ice cream. Some room updates needed, but didn’t take away from our experience. The parking was a bit of a mess. We were given many codes from the desk that just wouldn’t let us in or out of the garage. The front desk was helpful, but this was definitely a burden. I would have given 5 stars if the parking hadn’t been an issue.
Staying at Boston Marriott Cambridge was a truly pleasant and well-rounded experience. Even before stepping inside, the wintery Cambridge streets around the hotel set a calm, postcard-like mood—quiet sidewalks, city buildings dusted with snow, and that classic urban charm that instantly makes you feel like you’re in the heart of New England. ???? The lobby area felt modern and thoughtfully designed, with clean lines, warm lighting, and tasteful decor that gives off a refined yet welcoming vibe. You immediately sense the professionalism and hospitality the brand is known for. The room itself was spacious, comfortable, and very well laid out. The seating area was perfect for relaxing with a coffee or planning the day ahead, and the overall color palette and lighting made the space feel cozy without being heavy. The bathroom was spotless and modern, with excellent lighting and a clean, upscale finish—exactly what you want after a long day of walking around the city. The staff were consistently friendly and helpful, whether at check-in or around the property, always ready with a smile and genuine assistance. Location-wise, this hotel really shines. There are great restaurants and excellent coffee shops just steps away, and the Charles River is within easy walking distance, making morning or evening strolls especially enjoyable. ?? All in all, a comfortable, stylish stay in a fantastic location—a great choice for anyone looking to explore Cambridge and Boston with ease. Would happily return!
Their staff stole my AirPods and refused to own up to it. Also horrendously overpriced. Clearly if a company is not paying, you are not staying here. Literally stay anywhere else in the greater Boston area for a better experience. And no free WiFi after $1k a night rooms in Jan ‘26?!
Amazing staff, nice rooms, amazing gym, nice M club. Rooms are clean, and updated. The gym is huge and fully equipped. Probably one of the nicest I’ve seen. M Club is shared with the restaurant. Breakfast you can order off the menu or buffet (it was pretty good). During the day they have some snacks. At night you can choose 1 appetizer and 1 dessert at no charge if you have M Club access. Great location if you’re visiting MIT. Valet parking was quick and polite. Enjoyed my stay.
To be fair my review was during a tremendous amount of road work in the area so navigation around the area was awful and parking was insanely expensive at $52 a day. I was here for a conference and the ballroom has no windows, color scheme is pretty plain. They're renovating inside at this time as well so the escalators were shut down, and there were problems with the elevators. So my overall experience was not great. I will say the catered food was very very good. I thought that the quality of the food was above average for a hotel.
We had a great time staying here. Everyone at the front desk was super helpful. Weather wasn’t helping but we got complementary umbrellas. Rooms were comfy and clean. Breakfast was not included on the price we payed tho.
